Could a Secular Third Order person become a deacon?

I happen to know a deacon who is third order secular franciscan.
 
If one is a FSO, can he become a deacon?

If this person is otherwise qualified to be ordained a deacon, yes.

It is interesting to note that the first Franciscan to become a deacon was Saint Francis. (Yes, I know some of the earliest little brothers were priests who had previously received the diaconate, but one should never let technicalities spoil a good anecdote.)
