With how the Church stands on sexuality issues I was wondering whether you be a gynecologist, urologist or proctologist and still be a good Catholic. If so (which i have a strong feeling you can)how?.I’m not sure if I should be posting this here and I’m very sorry if I offended anyone. Please no inappropriate replies.

Sure you can be a good Catholic if you have any one of those professions. You can, also be a bad Catholic; just like in any other line of work.

The professions you mentioned are in giving health care to individuals. These can be very noble lines of work.

You very well could. While these jobs deal with a subject matter that is unpleasant to many people, they are in fact very important. People’s bodies get sick everywhere, not just in places that can be mentioned in polite conversation. As long as one does not go into such a job with the intent of seeing these things for their own pleasure, then it is alright, although they should continue such an attitude while they hold this job.

As long as you keep it profesional and don’t act like the gyno on the movie knocked up, yes you can still be a good catholic.

Excuse the crassness of this comment, but there’s a saying amongst nurses: “I"ve seen more [naked men parts] then a prostititute!”

Its about intention. Is the gyno being professional, is he/she delivering care that is both in lines with medical practice, professionalism and his/her Catholic ethic?

I mean, you could even argue that an obstritician is in a dicey position sexually given what they have to do to a woman before the baby pops out.

can you think of a reason why not? What on earth can you have read about “the church’s stand on sexuality issues” that leads you to even conjecture this might be wrong?
You do understand that that is the very nature of the doctor’s practice, to heal and treat all parts of the human body. Do you somehow imagine that treatment that includes touching any part of the human body is somehow immoral or has a sexual content? If so, best learn more about both the practice of medicine and actual sexual activity.

sidetrack, of course you can. They are doctors which is a noble profession. They treat the sick. Sickness is sickness, whether it is gynecological or mental ailment. They are no different and all need treatment.

Jesus talked about physician. Gospel writer Luke was a doctor. Nowaday the medical disciplines are more specialized and even sub-specialized, but neverhtheless they all doctors and must conform to the medical ethic. It is just like any other accepted professions that have their roles to play in the society.
