It has been a second time I heard that one should not go weekly confession. An advice is given to take extra week to reflect on our sins. I am bringing this discussion up regarding venial sins, not mortal sins; therefore, those who have committed mortal sins should go to confession as soon as possible.
What do you think if a priest advices you that you could take extra week to reflect on your life, your action, and this might help you more. He is not saying that you must not go weekly; he just gives you advice, and if you think going to confession weekly helps you, then go.
I’ve been thinking about this and what came to my mind is this example: When I was younger, I would do many things wrong, and each time my mom would give me some sort of punishments but then she could forgive me so quickly. Because of this, even after I felt sorry for what I had done wrong, I quickly forget the consequences/the punishment I had to pay.
Is the example above can be compared to our spiritual life and confession? When we commit a venial sins and go to confession right away, could we quickly forget to reflect on it? and as a result, we can easily commit the same sin on the next day?
Could holding back another week for confession can be pleasing to God or we might just end up hurting Him more for Him wanting to heal us and eagerly showing His mercy to us?
Am I confusing you?
