I’ve always had a longing for a boyfriend, and then of course, eventually married life. Many of you know this from my previous posts. But, over the past little bit of time, I have been experiencing some strange feelings.
The first time this happened, I was 17. I went out on a date with a guy, and as we were about to leave, he surprised me and tried to kiss me on the lips. I was so surprised and uncomfortable, that I kinda moved my face so he got me half on the lips and half on the cheek. It didn’t feel good at all; I was actually scared and uneasy.
I figured I was like this because I was pretty young at the time, so I blew it off. Well, now I am 20 and I have been dating again. And I feel the very same way. Physical contact of any sort with a guy makes me feel really uncomfortable, whether he has his arm around my shoulders, tries to hold my hand, or hug me. Kissing…that is actually something I fear. Not to mention the thought of sexual intercourse. The idea of having to do that with my future husband frightens me.
When I was 10, I was sexually molested by a neighborhood boy. I have no idea if this relates to my current problem. But it did happen, and at the time, I felt horribly violated.
Now, if a guy tries to talk flirtatiously with me, it just makes me feel uncomfortable and I close off. Another thing is, I don’t get “those” feelings. I never have any sort of sexual urges that I can think of. It just hasn’t been a temptation for me, and while I feel like that is a blessing of sorts, I am also beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with - or different about - me. It’s not that I can control myself - I don’t have urges at all.
Anyhow, does anyone else feel this way? Or…is there any advice you could offer? Could I be called to a celibate life? Or have I just not met the “right one” yet?
