I’ve been thinking about this…

and it seems to me that if this is the case, there are multiple reasons…

I feel that women are still not treated very well in our society. I have never been into women’s lib but… they had a point…

so women… don’t always like themselves… and may become self-destructive…

gotta go… Just some thoughts…

Interesting. I’ve also seen the idea advanced on this forum that there are more women than men in heaven. :ehh:

I hope everyone ends up in Heaven. Whether more men do or more women or of equal proportion, the main thing is I try and get myself there and my children and help others to do the same.

This is a time for us to be trying to become like Saints and get to Heaven, not wondering how many will or what proportion of men vs women do.

Um… if, as in distracted’s premise, women are mistreated or abused to the point of not valuing themselves and make self-destructive choices, then how exactly are they culpable for mortal sin that would keep them out of Heaven? There is such a thing as mitigation. And let’s be honest… women who are mistreated to this point probably have little to no education in the Faith, so they probably have no idea what is sinful and what is not. Ignorant people cannot be accounted guilty of mortal sin. Mortal sin requires full knowledge and free choice.

Jeez people… this is basic, elementary stuff here.

And just how disgusting would God have to be to punish the abused for the consequences of their abuse? When did He ever do THAT?!

I’m trying to figure out what productive purpose exploring this question might be and I can’t come up with anything. Am I having a brain freeze? Or am I missing something?

We are all called to greater holiness, to strive for the highest degree of holiness that is possible. It’s not about gender, and to start keeping score on the basis of gender on a totally hypothetical question such as who may be in heaven, something we cannot possibly know and have no right to judge, is sexist no matter which way it goes.

What an odd question.

Men and women are both equally capable of great goodness and evil. One gender is NOT better then the other.

Some men are from abusive relationships also, women aren’t the only victims of abuse.

It is true that some bad behavior is caused by very low self esteem but likewise some bad behavior is caused by very large egos.🤷

mortal sin is mortal sin… it doesn’t change just because a person is IGNORANT of the reality that something s/he did/does is mortal sin…

There is a psg in the Bible about how, well, i think, verbatim, it says: To whom more is givne, more is required…

so yes, an ignarant person is going to be “beaten with fewer stripes” (scrpture psg) than one who is NOT ignorant… (say, a well-catechized Catholic)… But notice that the psg does NOT sya the ignorant person will not get any “stripes” at all… just FEWER…

sin causes adverse consequences regardless of ignorance or lack thereof…

What in the name of – are you talking about??? Are you saying that only woman who are ignorant of the Catholic (Christian) faith are abused???

and/or: that that is proof of her ignorance… that she is abused???

I know you are not syaing this…

Are you???

i know a woman with a very high IQ who was abused terribly… and not by only one man… (seems to have a Kick ME sign on her back)… but got A’s in college… and knows her faith quite well… True, she didn’t know it back then when in the middle of the abuse… but she WAS a Christian then… and knew the New Testament fairly well…
Ignorant people cannot be accounted guilty of mortal sin. Mortal sin requires full knowledge and free choice.
full knowledge??? Only God has absolutely full knowledge of how awful sin is… We humans don’t always have much of a clue, esp whne we are young &/or uncatechized… Of course, once we suffer the “full” consequences… we begin to see the light
And just how disgusting would God have to be to punish the abused for the consequences of their abuse? When did He ever do THAT?!
no one said anything remotely like that…

and as far as the ignorant being punished… See above…

i think it is very helpful to have this kind of information… i saw a video once where this woman claimed to have gone to Heaven in an after-death experience… She didn’t quite get to Heaven all the way, it seems… but to the doorway or something… In any case, she said she saw many men there… the implication being that there are more men in Heaven than women…

It is helpful to know this… or even just assume it may be so… so that we can possibly do more to help women get into Heaven…pray more, etc… I don’t necessarily buy it that more men are in Heaven… despite the video… Maybe more men are waiting outside the doors than women… 😃 or something… but in any case, it does seem to me that women are… weak in certain areas that men are not… for instance… they seem to “love” their spouses/children more than Jesus a lot of the time… But then a lot of people are guilty of loving something or someone more than Jesus… which is how thye end up in Hell…

they also seem far more easily deceived than men… They were the ones deceived i nthe Garden… not the man. He knew what he was doing… and his sin was disobediece… but he wasn’t terribly deceived… Women are deceived all the time… by their feelings, primarily…

Anyway… I now pray more for certain women in my life than i did before (try to)… because of this knowledge so i don’t think we should be syaing - or implying - that this kind of knowledge is worthless…

never said one gender was better tahn another… don’t believe i even implied it…

my point (one of them) was, basically, that not feeling too good about yourself can cause you to throw your salvation away… to hate yourself all the way to Hell…

and there are FAR MORE women in abusive relationships than vice versa…

Yes…

See Post #8… and #9
