Could Jesus have performed the wedding at Canna?

I do not wish to advance any ideas that would make me a heretic but I do have a question that has been rolling around in my head. As Catholics we believe that although Jesus was present at the wedding in Canna it was not his wedding as has been forwarded by some groups. It does seem to me however that he was a prominent figure at the wedding. Is there anything in church history that would confirm or refute this idea that Jesus, who was a Rabi, officiated at the ceremony?

Its an interesting idea, however, the words of the Gospel seem to contradict the idea that Jesus played any prominent role in the wedding:

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.

John 2:1-2

Jesus and his disciples appear in the text almost as an afterthought, it appears that Mary was the primary guest. I guess Jesus and his disciples were Mary’s “plus 13” for the wedding.

The plain reading of the text excludes any possibility it was Jesus’ wedding, and the wording would also seems to exclude the idea that Jesus played any role in the wedding other than turning the water into wine. He appears merely to have been one guest among many other guests.
