Could Mary have said "no"?

Mary had a free will as a human being so as a reaction (maybe because she was afraid?) she could have rejected the offer to be the mother of God. Was this situation possible? If so, how would salvation have happened?

Also, is this related to the Dogma of Mary Immaculatta?
