Could my atheist grandfather be in heaven?

My Maternal grandfather Died in November 2009.He had leukemia before.
One month before I dreamed that he was reading the Holy bible,But he never heard gospel
before! Because we are living in a atheism country.And I am a Catholic.

I want to ask that whether my Maternal grandfather is saved by LORD?Or he is in hell or in purgatory? I want to know the truth and this problem had spent me too much time to think.
