Hedge Prayer for Protection of Others

[The “Hedge Prayer of Protection” is one of the most powerful prayers in the arsenal of spiritual warfare. We learn from Job that God has placed a “hedge of protection” around his children that Satan cannot cross except that God allows it (or as we allow it).

It should be noted, as it is with all prayer, the Hedge Prayer of Protection is not a magic bullet. There are no guarantees that the Hedge surrounding us cannot be breached. We can allow Satan and his demons to breach the Hedge by our carelessness of leaving the gate open, through direct or indirect invitation to the demons, through sins of commission and omission, through holes left unrepaired after sins are confessed and forgiven, through ancestral afflictions, etc. Even if there are no other reasons, God may allow demons to breach the hedge, as He did with Job, for purposes of testing, learning, or other Divine Reasons that only God may know.

And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” Then Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for naught? I pray:gopray2:erfully looked in on this thread where you mentioned having problems with sleeping because of nightmares, etc. . . . St. Padre Pio and St. Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney (the Cure of Ars) and many other saints also experienced such problems . . .

While working for many years as a church secretary . . . when in my late twenties the Lord Jesus graced my naturally contemplative soul in** Him** with a suprising new primary calling/ministry . . . the calling/ministry being that of intercessory pray:gopray2:er . . . as the ministry deepened over the years . . . I also began having problems evidently somewhat similar to what you have been encountering . . . where the enemy of souls kept invading peaceful necessary sleep . . .

I don’t know if this will help you . . . but the Lord opened up a solution in my case . . . and it really works wonderfully well . . .

When my mother was ill in the last years of her life some years ago . . . I began taping special TV programs she loved . . . and the Lord led me to tape on 6 hour and 8 hour tapes . . . programs that were wholesome and peaceful . . . and under the guidance of the** Holy Spirit** . . . I very quietly began putting on these tapes all through the night . . . over and over . . . the more familiar they became . . . the easier it was to quietly and peacefully sleep . . .

The closest description I can give to this help in sleeping peacefully . . . is that somehow the mind is subliminally focused and occupied by the tapes (played very low low volume). . . and it’s like that subliminal focus acts like a very effective locked-door/barrier against the enemy of souls which God does not allow to be opened/breached . . . it still amazes me that this simple technique works . . . and it takes a bit of getting used too . . . but it never fails . . . perhaps this is an example of Teresa’s (tbcrawford’s) “hedge pray:gopray2:er” . . .

The deeper God’s children go in the **Holy Spirit **. . . the more grace and power is poured out upon and through that soul . . . and the more effective are these souls as channels for His holy grace and mercy . . . which is the “why” of the attacks and disruption of peaceful sleep . . .

Hope this helps . . . just a note of caution . . . most television shows now-a-days can be very disturbing . . . if you are interested in trying it . . . you might need to order some healthier DVD’s of quieter healthier distinctly positive shows from years past if you want to try out the technique . . . I also have a radio tape of the Holy Rosary which I often play and pray for hours during the night . . . it’s the one with the Catholic singer Dana and a priest . . .

Keeping “prayed up” and “confessed up” are also very necessary . . . and the Eucharist and Eucharistic devotion are very strenthening, healthy and protective . . . and daily partaking of a portion of the eternal fresh bread . . . Sacred :bible1: Scripture . . . is essential for spiritual health . . . just a verse a day can be such a blessing . . . plus St. Teresa of Avila always recommended Holy Water to be sprinkled about everywhere as the most powerful weapon against attacks . . . sprinkling it on all the beds in the household is also praised by many Catholics as an excellent holy practice and protection . . .
