Could the Church canonize a non-Catholic?

Certainly there are many saints outside of the Church, and in the same vein, there certainly are very many who would be baptized if they knew of Jesus, the Church, and our tradition. There are billions living at this time, billions who have lived since Adam and Eve, and many more billions who will continue to grow in complete and innocent ignorance of the Son of God in this world, innocent because of life situations where the Gospel not been presented to them, for whatever reason.

I have often wondered whether it could be possible for the Church to canonize a non-Catholic.
