I am currently praying the 54 day rosary novena and have just begun my thanksgiving petition…there are two petitions being offered and just yesterday i asked the mother to please present me with 2 white roses to let me know that she is listening…just today i went to the store to buy something…i only had to buy that one thing so i picked it up and just decidec to stroll around the store…soon i found myself at the end of the aisle and it was the flowers section…i suddenly thought that maybe this was my signal grace and besides me were roses…there werent specifically 2 white roses like i asked but white roses in bundles along with other roses…im thinking thid could be the signal grace but im also thinking if im looking ttoo into it…i went to school later and outside the window was a man smoking… he showd his shirt and it said roses…

sorry for writing this…but ive never asked Mary for signs and was wondering if these could be answers or possibly just a coincedence and if im too looking into it…thanks

Don’t think so. Most big stores now have a nice selection of plants and flowers. The guy in the shirt? Could have been a Guns and Roses shirt. Seek grace within, not in signs of dubious locations. Peace

Also…read up on genuine signal graces.
It’s best not to challenge Our Lady to show you she is listening to your prayers.
If you question that Our Lady listens, I doubt that 54 days would make a difference.

Pray because you trust God and love Him and Mary. Not because you wants signs and wonders.
They’ll come when the time is right, or they may never come. Properly ordered prayer is most pleasing to Jesus and Our Lady. 👍

Indeed prayers are answered. And especially prayers to Our Lady. Keep right on praying and untold graces will come your way. If a sinner like me has prayers answered by the Blessed Mother, believe you me anyone who flees to Her protection, or seeks her Intercession won’t be left unaided.

I disagree with those who are saying this isn’t a signal grace. The question to ask is what is the “fruit” of your asking our BVM for a sign, i.e., does your asking for a sign draw you closer to her and our Lord? If so, there is nothing harmful in asking for confirmation that your prayer has been heard.

I have spoken about this with my spiritual director, a very orthodox and knowledgeable priest, and he agreed that there is nothing wrong with asking for confirmation that our prayers have been heard. I do this kind of thing all the time and have no qualms about it.

Furthermore, many saints asked for signs from heaven and so why can’t we? St. Augustine and St. Ignatius of Loyola are two that come to mind. Asking for a sign is also evidenced in Holy Scripture, e.g., Gideon asked God for a sign and he was given it…this is often called “fleecing” the Lord (see Judges 6:36-40).

The overall matter here is that each of us have our different ways of relating to our Lord and the BVM. So, whatever works for you, go for it. Don’t let the discouraging voices enter in…block them out. God loves you and is very pleased that you are praying this novena and wants you to continue to do so. Those roses are heaven if you believe it in your heart.

May God bless you.

If God wants one to have singular grace, would He make you guess? I think not.

It is not guessing, it’s called discernment which is often hazy because the enemy of our souls desires to impede our progress in holiness.

Consider the life of the BVM, she did not have complete understanding of all the events that were taking place in her life…the annunciation, the presentation at the temple, the crucifixion, etc. She was troubled at these moments but had complete faith in God that, although she did not fully understand, she trusted that God’s plan was being done in her life. In order to have faith, one must have doubt…or, at least, a doubt has momentarily arisen in one’s mind. Otherwise, one has certainty which is not completely attainable in this life.

The OP asked for confirmation that his prayers were heard. God works through all things to communicate to us that He is with us and listening…He uses even mundane things like a rose or other coincidence that can be easily explained away. Regardless of whether the OP received a “signal grace”, the OP is on the right path in praying this novena. I believe that whatever draws one to pray is always a good thing. So, I’d say ‘yes’ to the two white roses!

I agree with this. I have seen too many people convince themselves that their wishful thinking was a sign from God only to be living in la-la-land.

I have received messages from God, and the unexpected joy in my heart was the confirmation God was with me. By the way, none of those messages told me anything about the future, simply that God was with me and loved ones

But to have to ask if it was a sign, shows it is NOT a sign. The OP can choose to look at the roses in the store as beautiful creations of God and as a reminder God exist. But to purposely walk into a store that he knows carries flowers and then think the flowers are a sign from God to answer a prayer, is a real stretch

I didnt purposely walk into the shop knowing they had flowers.I didnt even think about it untill i saw them there.(If I did knowingly go in like that, i probably wouldnt have posted here)

Anyways…thanks for the answers…in the end im going to think of it as signal graces…honestly…i really was shocked at the 2 incidents…it just seemed too coincedential…and i really did believe mary was showing me signs…but it was bc i was second guessing myself and not just believing…and its not like i purposely walked in to find flowers or was desperately looking for signs…it just happened…

Good for you…Please always remember that God always comes to us with His peace (1 Cor. 14:33) and that the enemy comes to us to confuse and discourage us with the ultimate attempt to ruin us (1 Pet. 5:8).

If you are visited by an angel, even if you don’t understand, you will know that the angel is from God-without question. It is OK to pray for what you need or for the need of others. An old friend of mine would say, “it’s not what you want that’s good for you.” In other words she was saying to pray for what is good for you and for the not what we deem is good for us and our desires. A novena is really a good way to go to God and to His mother with our intentions. God always listens. His Mother intercedes for us. Yet, we tend to push the envelope and ask for proof. We are such doubters aren’t we, that we must ask for a sign.

Just a note. We tend to be misinformed as to what a signal grace is and the effect of signal graces. I think it would be good if other responders were to look this up or reaffirm the knowledge of what a signal grace is and what it is not. St. Therese had a profound singal grace when a rose bloomed outside her window in the dead of winter. Peace.

I know this is old. And the point I’m about to make has little to do with signal graces but just in case someone sees this I just wanted to say that this is false. If you are visited by any spiritual being you are supposed to question it and not believe just because you think its from God that it actually is from God
