This is just a back-door to armed social workers responding on the “Response Team”.

We’ve already seen that with many Federal offcials, (National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, and others).

Now they want this being brought to the city level too. All under the guise of less Government FORCE.

It is a call to further inflate Government and Government FORCE packaged as the opposite. Most of the people pushing for this are unaware of this.

The “Safety for All” plan aims to reinvest police funding for the 2021 budget, although it will face opposition.

MINNEAPOLIS — Three members of the Minneapolis City Council released a “Safety for All” plan on Friday night to cut an additional $7.9 million from the police department’s budget in 2021 and ultimately reduce the authorized sworn force, opting instead to reinvest funding into mental health crisis response and violence prevention methods. . . .

. . . "One of the things we’ve heard really overwhelmingly from constituents of this city,” Cunningham said, “is they would like to be able to see a non-law enforcement response to mental health crisis calls.” . . .

Minneapolis did most everything progressives wanted – but the city still had racist cops, and violent riots after they killed George Floyd.

I applaud this effort! It is less extreme than the earlier proposal of dissolving the police department. This change will free up the police to do their work where they truly are needed - combating criminals. The majority of mental health calls should be handled by mental health professionals, not police who are trained for an entirely different role.

P.S. This is my adopted town. I’ve lived here for 8 years.

You know, nobody has to live in Minneapolis or California or New York, or Atlanta or Chicago etc.

I’m a Social Worker!
Are you going to be on “the response team”?
Sure why not? That sounds great! I hope I get a uniform.

Feanor2 on the thought of Feanor2 getting to carry a gun in a professional capacity . . .
That sounds great! I hope I get a uniform.
Do you feel that way about the general law-abiding population too (with regards to the right to bear arms)?
