In speaking to a friend who is an ex catholic he mentioned the Council of Crete in 1219 as having re-written the bible. Never heard of it. A quick goole search turned up nothing. Anyone know anything about this and have an answer? Thank you.

Maybe your friend should be the one to supply some documentation, since he’s the one making the claim.

Your friend does not know what he/she is talking about. There was no Council of Crete in either the Catholic Church or the Orthodox Church.
You have to realize that very often, Protestants and their ministers who argue from the bible will actually make up not only biblical references but historical references to win their point because they know that most Catholics do not know their Bible and few of their own congregations know their history.

I do realize it, but before I tell him that I wanted to do some verification. He is pretty invested in this. Thank you.

How can we give you verification of something that did not exist!
Its up to your friend to provide documentation for his claim and then we can discuss what he presents.

This is very true. We cannot give you proof for something that does not exist.

Is the fact that there is no record, whether online or in books, verifiable enough? Even anti-Catholic websites are silent on the issue, which is unusual considering they will take any opportunity possible to put the Church down.

You may also note to him that the Bible we have today and the Bible we had 1700+ years ago are 99% similar. The only differences are purely grammatical.

Either way, your friend made the claim, so he must back up.

Here is a link to his “evidence”. Your thoughts?

A quote from the evidence:

“Rabbi Jesus later was initiated in Egypt at the highest of levels similar to the 33rd degree of Freemasonry of which many Prime ministers and Presidents around the world today are members. He then later married three wives, one of whom we know as a Mary Magdalene, a Druidic Princess, stole the Torah from the temple and moved to Lud, now London.”

This is simply a joke and anybody who might think there was any credibility to such rubbish is …well I can’t say or I will be banned from the forums.

2 John 9 Anyone who is so “progressive” as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son.

But thanks for YOUR restraint. 😉

Council of Crete?! Jesus the Mason? Mary Magdalen the Druidic Princess? :dts:

Honestly, I didn’t read it. I looked at the opening and knew it was bogus. I was looking to see if there was something that was a referance that would refute it. But I will take this back to him. Thank you.
