My husband and I really enjoyed our marriage prep class. We especially liked the workbook pages we did. And after we got married, we finished working through that workbook together and learned a lot about each other and our marriage!

My husband mentioned that he’d very much like to find another study that we can do together, whether it be more workbook style, or simply a book that includes discussion questions for us at the end of each chapter/section. I’ve been looking online, but can’t seem to find many that aren’t strictly devotionals or more history-based textbooks.

Has anyone used a book in a retreat or on your own you really liked that you could recommend?

Thanks!

I dont have much for you, but I liked Dr Dobson’s Night Lights…it is a devotional, but had great discussion question to help you make your marriage stronger.

EWTN had a couples thing on Life on the Rock a couple weeks ago, the same folks had been on EWTN LIve last year as well. They have a study that mimics Fireproof (the movie) in Cathloic fashion, to encourage devotion to each other and Christ. (although these folks did it before the movie) Unfortunately, I can’t find the links for them at present. I’ll keep trying, there were 2 websites for their ministries, they even go out to parishes for retreats/teaching.

I recommend “For Better… Forever” by Gregory Popcack. It’s a great book, and has lots of excersises throughout that you do with your spouse. We really learned a lot about each other and our marriage! 👍
