Is there anything you wish you knew before you got engaged? Any questions in particular I should ask myself? Any book recommendations?

Thanks!

Many who became engaged and married live to regret having ignored the red flags they see in the person’s attitudes, or in their family relationships, in how they communicate and in how we communicate, or in divergent beliefs, thinking that disturbing issues will melt away. They may in fact worsen, and often do.
Reading the signs is a good first ‘book’! 🙂

There is the possibility of working on these things before engagement, and before marriage, and both persons may indeed grow, but many people have regrets after having simply papered over all that is not wholesome and united.

God bless you and your boyfriend. God grant that all will be towards your temporal and spiritual welfare.

I wish that I knew the faith better and knew that there were resources out there for Catholics who are trying to discern a potential spouse. I really wish that I had encountered Catholic radio before getting engaged because it would have helped me know my faith and to discern better. I wish I had checked out this website: courtshipnow.com/ as well as read Carmen Marcoux’s Book “Arms of Love” www.amazon.com/Arms-Love-Carmen-Marcoux/dp/0973207507

Hope that helps! God bless!

How To Find Your Soulmate Without Losing Your Soul By Jason Evert is an excellent book with practical suggestions and advise on how to find your better half without lowering your Faith and its standards. :yup:
howtofindyoursoulmate.com/pdf/Soulmate_Study_Guide.pdf

Since modern world loves doing the right things wrong and has almost striped the term “Family” of its orignal dignity, this book will give you an insight on why the institution of marriage is Sacred and the need to enter it with chastity.
You & your future spouse will be in my prayers,🙂

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be your refuge! :yup:
God Bless!
