Hello. I am in a pickle.

My girlfriend and I are both pretty Catholic. We like to go and talk, and we sit on my trampoline, sometimes laying down. Now I have a question. Is it alright if one of us were to fall asleep deliberately while laying on the trampoline with the other right next to us?

I said no, but I would like another opinion. Thank you kindly.

feel free to post anything relating to the subject, as I am eager to learn

Thanks

Well…

I’ll admit I have a gut feeling that its not TERRIBLE, but its better to not do that.

However, I’ll also admit that I am not sure.

What, in your mind, would be wrong with this?

Are you concerned that it is rude, that one person fell asleep? Or that it somehow immoral?

It’s supposedly a near occasion of sin to sleep together without actually having sex, but I’ve always wondered why an unmarried couple can’t fall asleep next to each other in the backseat of a car when someone’s driving or on the couch while watching a movie or on an airplane or anyplace where the temptation to have sex is impossible. Falling asleep on the same bed is understandable.

the temptations to sin are a non-factor. Neither of us would dare do anything along those lines. The problem is that I did not know if her sleeping while I held her would bring about a sort of intimacy that is out of place prior to being married.

In what way? She’s asleep, you’re awake. You would have to be the proactive one, and deliberately so. But you say that’s not you’re intention. There’s nothing wrong with cuddling your girlfriend, so long as your intentions are pure and neither of you take it further. It’s a normal healthy expression of love. In my opinion, it is not a near occasion of sin either. That would only be the case if you or her had ‘‘other things’’ on your mind and let the cuddling lead to other things best kept for the marriage bed.

I don’t see anything wrong with this then…Unless of course someone can give me the words of a priest etc. that disagree

I’m so glad no one said this was a sin…

I understand all the adults here are trying to protect us, and most of what y’all say is great advice, and most teens could do to listen to you more. I do think that many over-react though…kissing is wrong? Hugging is wrong? Being alone is wrong??!

I can understand why you should refrain from those things if they lead to sin, but denying all of those things is first of all not going to happen with the way people are, secondly, not sinful, and thirdly, quite helpful in relationships. Yes, some people have serious relationships when they are ‘young’ (I mean like, high school, not elementary or middle school).

Whew…misplaced rant. Sorry, OP!

😊 😊 😊

Well, fine 🙂

It’s okay, though…
As I’ve said before, other people’s opinions are all fine, but it’s ours that matters the most–if you aren’t comfortable with it, we’ll refrain…
