After twenty years of waiting for a husband, finally several months ago I started dating a man beyond what I’d ever hoped for. He is unbelievably kind, thoughtful, and personable, and he is wonderful with kids. Our personalities, senses of humor, etc., etc., are amazingly similar. But he broke up with me recently because he feels that he isn’t ready to get married yet. He’s 42. He grew up with an alcoholic father, and as a result is terrified of marriage and thinks he has to be perfect (perfect job, perfect house) before he is ready. I know he cares about me deeply, but since he feels that he will not be ready for marriage for years, he didn’t want us to continue dating when I am 37 and basically need to be married yesterday so I can have children–he said I should be with someone better than him. I am at peace with being with someone else if that’s what God wants, yet I feel like this man and I were made for each other, and that it is his lack of counseling concerning his past that is what is keeping us from being together (it’s also keeping him from the job he wants and is suited for!!). He is open to me giving him a counseling referral (I already gave him a book on the subject). Please pray for him; it would be a loss to the world for him to not have children with someone! Pray that he would be comforted by God and would have more self-confidence (and God-confidence!). Pray that he would go to counseling. Please pray also for wisdom for me in this situation (since the breakup, we are staying friends). And pray for both of us for mercy in being able to have children (biological as well as adopted), given that we’ve already waited so long. May God richly bless you for you prayers!!

My dear sister in Christ, may God hear these prayers from your heart. “Amen” to your prayers, for yourself, and for your friend. May God who casts out all fear, cast out your friend’s fear. God grant you will be married, and have the children you so desire (if not with this man as you wish, may He help you find someone good, and kind soon).
Bless you,
Trishie 🙂
I will continue to pray for you and for your friend

Praying for both of you…

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Your friend is about the age of my brother- also never married for a variety of reasons. I will definitely pray for you, and in fact am praying now.
