I have an elderly 90+ year old friend of my family in a nursing home, with dementia, on hospice care. She has no family and I ended up with the legal responsibility for her health care. The nursing home has been on lockdown for over a month due to COVID, so I have not been able to see this person, nor is anyone able to see anyone in there as the facility is only letting in hospice nurses and staff. They provide me updates on her over the phone and sometimes they do a Facetime so I can see her, although she has no idea what’s going on and cannot talk to me on the telephone due to the dementia.
Despite all the precautions for a month, this morning the case manager called and let me know they had a case of COVID in the facility and were taking precautions to try to make sure it didn’t spread. My friend is OK so far but obviously she and a number of other patients in the home are in very fragile condition.
Please pray for the health and safety of everyone involved - patients and staff. Thank you.
