That’s tough that’s fundamentalism. They think you can just take any old verse and it means what it says no matter what.
I’d find verses that completely disagree with them and say them.
James 2:24 - “You see that man is justified by works and not by faith alone.”
Matthew 19:16-19 -
“Why do you ask Me about what is good?” He said to him. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments. “Which ones?” he asked Him. Jesus answered, “Do not murder; do not commit adultery; do not steal; do not bear false witness: honor your father and your mother; and love your neighbor as yourself.”
Act 2:38 “Repent,” Peter said to them, “and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
For instance that last one says repenting and baptism gives you the holy spirit, but says nothing about faith.
Things like that. They can’t agree with that, and they’ll pretty much have to say that it’s taken out of context.
