It is “almost” enough to make me want to leave, just so I could come back with a story (But dont worry – I could *never *bring myself to abandon what I know to be The Truth).

I am not resentful, but I am jealous. Jealous that the converts and reverts have something that I don’t see how I can ever have.
This is great post tee, but this revert wishes he hadn’t left the Church for fifteen years- having a reversion story alone just isn’t worth it.

You see, the one thing that isn’t mentioned in the Story of the Prodigal Son is how the younger lad, after returning to his father’s house, still had to fight a brutal addiction to alcohol and terrible temptations to anger, relearn things he never learned properly the first time, and never quite got over his fear that the time lost would forever keep him from being the man he could have been.

Yes, stay with the Church, older brother. You are the wiser for it, and perhaps, just maybe, one of the reasons your younger brother came back.

Thank you for the response and clarification. Yes, your thread was one that I noticed. You have an excellent point as to the conversion of St. Paul. He himself endorsed that offices of Church leadership should not be given to those new to the faith, lest they swell with pride. It is an humbling experience to go from positions of leadership in one’s denomination to a student in an RCIA class, but it is also a very good experience

Thanks for your kind words. Several times I have tried to explain the reasons for my post and you are one of the few who "gets it."

For what it is worth, I have praised Mr. Hahn publicly many times. I just disagree with some of his novelties in exegesis.

Maybe one current problem is we live in a binary age. One is either 100% for or against an individual, I guess.

I am a convert and I have found that cradle Catholics are very welcoming and pleased that I wanted to join. Some of them don’t seem to understand why I would make the decision, because they are trying so hard to be ecumenical and so don’t like to talk about the one true Church. I think I scared one of the RCIA helpers, by being enthusiastic about the Church being THE Church, one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic. She hastened to tell me how much she loves Protestants and learns so much from them.
