I…er,…I…er missed your post.
I’m not going to get suspended, am I?
Why were 1 and 2 Peter written?
- as an account of the gospel
- to tell of God’s love
- as a reminder to think purely
- as a reminder of God’s wrath
- all of the above

This is a hard one because there is no section in either letter that says, “I am writing this for this purpose”, but I’m going to guess again:Why were 1 and 2 Peter written?

It’s is a hard question…but theologon’s boil it down to one. This is a hard one because there is no section in either letter that says, “I am writing this for this purpose”, but I’m going to guess again:
5) all of the above
My evidence:
- 2 Peter 3:1-2 “This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you; in them I am trying to arouse your sincere intention by reminding you that you should remember the words spoken in the psat by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken through your apostles.”
- 1 Peter 2:4 reminds us that we are “precious in God’s sight.”
- 1 Peter 1:13 says, “Therefore prepare your minds for action…” beginning a reminder that we are to live in reverent fear and love one another. 1 Peter 3:4 tells women that their adornment should be “the inner self with the lasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit”
- 2 Peter 2:4-5: “For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of deepest darkness to be kept until the judgment; and if he did not spare the ancient world, even though he saved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood on a world of the ungodly…”
If that’s not right, at least we’re narrowing it down!
