I was watching a news show last night and they reported that scientists have discovered the actual age of the universe down to the trillionth of a second:
Scientists peering back to the oldest light in the universe have new evidence for what happened within its first trillionth of a second, when the universe suddenly grew from submicroscopic to astronomical size in far less than a wink of the eye. …

🙂

The article serves as more evidence for the big bang theory: God said “bang”, and the world came into existence. 😃

Exactly my thoughts as well. So… maybe God DID create the Heavens and the Earth in a day… or maybe even in less than a second.😃

I must respectfully say, “Baloney.”

If all the matter of the universe was contained in this small “singularity” which they know erupted at exactly such-and-such a second, that still does not explain the creation of a single nanogram of that matter. In a sense, it’s not the birth or creation of the universe we’re talking about–just it’s change from one condition to another.

The theory assumes the existence of that matter already–albeit in a different state.

Peace.

The funny thing is that Christians are made fun of for believing in God and Creation but then these “educated” types turn around and say “one trillionth of a second”

From the article, it appears that the new evidence tends to confirm the theory of “inflation” in the early universe. That means that the variable light speed theory proposed by physicist Joao Magueijo in his book “Faster Than the Speed of Light,” partially as an alternative to inflation, is probably wrong.

Of course, that is true. The Big Bang theory, as science, cannot say anything at all about a creator. Although, certainly one might infer that someOne caused the Bang and the inital matter creation. But the creation event itself (time zero, so to speak) can never be an object of observation.

Thats just it though, they act as if there is scientific evidence and a means of getting to the bottom of this:
“It amazes me that we can say anything about what transpired within the first trillionth of a second of the universe, but we can,” said Charles L. Bennett, WMAP principal investigator and a professor in the Henry A. Rowland Department of Physics and Astronomy at The Johns Hopkins University. “We have never before been able to understand the infant universe with such precision. It appears that the infant universe had the kind of growth spurt that would alarm any mom or dad.”
My favorite thing to tell people who start using astronomical numbers to point out that there are 1 billion seconds in about 32 years. Who cant comprehend 1 billion seconds let alone 1 trillion?

Well, that’s just it. It’s pefectly feasible to obtain scientific evidence of events infinitesimally close to time zero. But it is impossible to get evidence of anything “before” or even “at” time zero.

Still, the very fact that science points to a beginning for the universe, rather than a steady state existence stretching into time-infinity in both directions can’t help but put the theologians in a better position.

Aha, I get what your saying!

And Who will be the One to verify this information? 🙂

How dare you question science:
According to this picture, researchers say, only 4 percent of the universe is ordinary familiar atoms; another 22 percent is an as-yet unidentified dark matter, and 74 percent is a mysterious dark energy. That dark energy is now causing another growth spurt for the universe, fortunately, they say, more gentle than the one 13.7 billion years ago.

I dont know about you but Im convinced.

WMAP was launched on June 30, 2001, and is now a million miles from Earth in the direction opposite the sun. It is able to track temperature fluctuations at levels finer than a millionth of a degree.
