According to St. Paul, “We all have sinned through Adam” (Paraphrasing). I’m not sure how the others can propogate, watering this down, and we’d still be under the curse of Adam.

What is bing done here is the words in Genesis being minced like the protestants do the Gospel according to St. John, Chapter 6. It isn’t at all important where we come from as long as we know where we are headed. This topic can not lead us to Christ or Heaven. Remember the narrow road, this isn’t it.

Erm, no…what is being done here is people with higher studies in scripture kindly giving their time to make sure you dont go down the road of Fundamentalism.

This road does lead to Christ, because you will be taught biblical criticism in nearly every Catholic University in the world. The Bishops do know what is being taught, and send the seminarians there anyway. In other words, we are orthodox, and you dont realise it because you havent done the study.

I understand you are just another sheeple following the crowd. We’ll see just how “learned” you really are in the end. I, along the Christ’s Church, will never change. This is a “fundamental” truth of the faith. It really isn’t yours or any professors place to change it. Evolution is only a theory, and I choose not to believe it. Call me fundamentalist if you will, I have been called worse by better. I will be Catholic until the day I die and I hope you can say the same. Too many people wear the title and act exactly opposite. You are far from orthodox, but that is for another discussion.

There is a lot in Genesis that is not likely to have happened in a few generations. An individual pair as a starting point does not seem to me to be out of the question. That Cain and Abel were the second generation does seem to me to be a stretch considering how they earned their keep and the technology that Cain employed after leaving town so to speak. Somewhere along the line humankind domesticated animals, started raising crops, invented tools and musical instruments, quit wandering and formed settlements and so on. The story is probably accurate, but is a conflation of events that stretched over considerable time and has a lot of detail left out. The time line is highly compressed. It is a wonderful account of where we came from, how evil and sickness entered the world, and why we were made, and who made us, but it hardly qualifies as history as we know it.
