I am completely stealing all ideas in this thread! 😃

My dh & I just had a date night - a freebie one, no less, as my IL’s had our son, so no need to pay a babysitter - last night. We went out to dinner (we’ve only had the gift cards for this for 6 months now LOL), and then it was like we both stalled out - we had no clue what to do. We joked that we’ve both turned old (hardly, as I’m 32 and he’s almost 37) and boring already, and only 7 1/2 years into our marriage! haha

We finally settled on just roaming; ended up walking around Walmart, Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble. 🤷 At least we enjoyed just being together without interruptions! 👍
ha–shopping, yes no one said that one!😃 You had a good time together, no doubt.

You know, that is why my husband asked me to come up with some new ideas, because how many of us can attest to…driving around…aimlessly…wasting time and gas…trying to find something to do…and then an hour goes by before you know it.😊 My husband said, ‘it’s fun honey to drive around with you, but let’s actually do something fun together next time.’😛

Have you heard of geocaching? Check out www.geocaching.com DH and I bought a GPS unit for our birthdays this year and have spent a lot of time together searching for geocaches. We’ve been hiking, done some urban caching. It’s been really fun and helped us reconnect as a married couple. "

If you don’t have a GPS, the original form of geocaching is called Letterboxing. You get clues off the internet in the area you are going, and then go on basically a kind of treasure hunt. It’s great fun and you can find more info at www.letterboxing.org

Also, if you have a local improv comedy troupe you can go enjoy a show or even take classes and learn the art of improv. My husband and I are in a troupe and it is terrific! Our troupe performs locally, but even if you don’t want to perform, just learning how to think on your feet, what makes a great scene, etc., is great fun.

My hubby and I, now that are kids are older (12 and 15), are able to go out for an evening, a little more frequently than we used to. By frequently, I mean, once per week, or every other week. My husband has a hectic work schedule so sometimes, it might only be once every two weeks. But, at any rate…he has asked me to come up with some creative ideas to do together…here is what I have come up with so far…
  1. taking up golf together (both VERY excited about this because we are not golfers at all, and my sister is GIVING ME her clubs, as she is buying a new set–so it won’t cost us much to get started!👍 )
  2. visiting art gallery ‘grand openings’ (he is a little:rolleyes: on that one lol but he’s game)
  3. beach picnic
  4. wine tasting and wine classes (we did this last summer and loved it)
  5. taking cooking class together
  6. enrolling in photography class
  7. ???
And then I’m stumped. 😊 My husband loves art, but…he isn’t too keen on hanging out with local artists all night…but, it might be cool for a try, he said.

Outside of the typical dinner & a movie, which is always a good staple…anyone have creative ideas, that can be done either in an afternoon, or evening? Thanks in advance.🙂
The book store

The drive-in

Berry-picking at a local farm (one near us has live musice during evening picking hours)

Farmer’s market

And, we love grocery shopping together! Maybe that’s ridiculous, but we always pick out new things that we’ve never tried before 🙂

Hahahahaha… we take the kids with us then kick them out of the car so we have our time together… So far this summer we have been to see these at the Drive in…

    *]Prince Caspian
    *]Indiana Jones
    *]Hell Boy
    *]Dark Knight

I’ve never been to a drive in. We don’t have them in Texas – at least in my part of Texas we don’t.

Most of my great date nights have already been listed (Salsa dance lessons, spa massage, and hiking). Two I haven’t seen:

When we lived in Florida, we used to drive to a marina at night and walk on the docks, looking at the boats and fish and people, and just talking. This was a great time, with the breeze, and ocean smell, and always led to great conversation.

The other thing I love to do with my husband is go to Coffee Bean on Saturday mornings and order a coffee and bagel and just talk all morning long.

Here’s a great one: couples massage therapy classes!

You bring a yoga pad and a professional massage therapist teaches you how to massage all each other’s aches and pains away. Some programs have them for both pregnant and non-pregnant couples, too. My husband and I got the idea to go when I was carrying our son, and it was a wonderful, snuggly, bonding experience for both of us. Then we’d go out to a cosy little wine bar (he’d have wine, I’d have organic white grape juice) and we’d split the fruit and cheese platter.

Seconding the mini golf! If they have one in your area, maybe try glow-in-the-dark indoor mini golf at The Putting Edge:
puttingedge.com My husband and I have had a ball there before, just giggling like little kids. Sometimes we take our son, and sometimes we just go ourselves. Either way, it’s great fun.

Plus it helps to go ahead and throw even your craziest ideas out there, because you never know when your sweetie will surprise you. My husband was blown away when I told him I’d like to go deep-sea fishing and biking on the beach with him, and I was equally surprised when he thought getting a manicure/pedicure and foot massage at my nail spa sounded fun.

Here’s how you sell a guy on getting a pedicure: tell him all about the GREAT foot massage they give you…that has you ooooozing into your chair with relaxation. Worked on my guy, especially since the occasional pedicure gets rid of his ingrown toenails. (Plus you have to promise not to tell anyone and keep it between the two of you, so his brothers don’t tease him.)
