Hi all. I started using the Creighton method of charting before my husband and I got married. After we got married I started charting on my phone instead of on the charts. I started grad school and we went through a really rough patch in our marriage and I just got out of the habit. I would really like to start charting the right way again due to concerns about my fertility. I am worried about contacting the lady we went through to learn about the method since I have been charting on my phone and with less detail for the past year. Do you think we will have to go through the process of relearning the method? I wish I would have just kept up with it the whole time we’ve been married! Thanks in advance.

Have you forgotten the rules? Is there any reason why you can’t spend 6 months charting in the Creighton charts before getting a consultation? If you’ve been out of practice, they’ll need recent historical data to be able to help at any rate.

I am planning on charting properly for at least 6 months before getting a consultation. I just wasn’t sure if I would have to be retrained on the method. I still track everything just not on the charts.

Well, full disclosure: I use STM and was largely self taught from books. Given that I don’t really understand the need for very specific fixed forms of charting in Creighton nor the need for so much instruction since I use a different method, take my advice with a grain of salt. But, I would say that unless something major happened since your last lesson (like if you are breastfeeding or suspect you might be auddenly having multiple anovulatory cycles), then if you remember the rules I don’t see why you would need retraining…

Also I would set aside a few hours to fill in old charts if you’re tracking in sufficient detail on your phone. I think that should be sufficient for a consultation, but Creighton is not my forte.

Similar background here, and I’m inclined to agree.

Whenever we go back to charting, it takes me a bit to remember how to interpret, but not long to get back into the swing of things (lots of, “wait, what’s that? Oh, yeah, right.” But my charting is not quite as involved as Creighton.

Just call her up and ask for more charts and stickers. You have no reason or obligation to elaborate on anything.
