Can a Catholic be cremated, or must they be buried? I know some churches say only burial is correct, but am ignorant of the Catholic stance.

A Catholic can be cremated, but the ashes can’t be scattered.
 
My great grandmother was Catholic and cremated and shes buried in a Catholic cemetery.

She asked the Church of course before she made the final deciding.

So Im assuming its okay with the Church.

This. 👍 When I first considered joining the church I was talking to the head of the Religious Education program one day and mentioned that when I die I wanted my ashes to be scattered over the mountains or the oceans somewhere. She showed me in the church teachings how that I could be cremated, but had to be interred.
