Cross-references

Hello,

I’m fairly new here, though I registered quite awhile ago. I’m hoping that someone here can help me.

I am looking for a reference that contains only cross-references for the Catholic scriptures. Do they sell these separate from the Bibles themselves? I have a new NRSV Bible Catholic Edition that I use for personal scripture reading (as opposed to study), but it does not contain cross-references (I knew this going in to the purchase). I have seen cross-reference search engines available online, however, I’d love to have a compact book with cross-references for business trips or to not have to rely on being in front of a computer to do this.

Does anyone know if such a thing exists?

The Jerusalem bible has cross references to other bible passages in the margin.
For example: Ez 13;10-12 has these in the margin;
Ps 22;28
Jr 6;14+
Lm 2;14
Mt 7;27
Ac 23;3

The New American bible has them as a footnote. But for Ez 13;10-12 it has none.

I have an NRSV bible also. In the past I’ve used it for study, but similarly found it difficult when trying to cross-reference.

In my view, this (or the Popular Edition of the Jerusalem Bible) is best.

Thank you for the responses thus far. I have many bible versions (NJB, Navarre, RSV, NAB, NABRE, NRSV, even the Haydock Bible), but I’m surprised that I can’t find a stand-alone source of just the cross-references. Perhaps I’ll have to create my own - though that will be quite the task!

Also - it’s not a Catholic bible, but from memory the Today’s New International Version is not bad for study. I’ve used it for a few theology courses I’ve done, and it was pretty resourceful. Though the problem lies in that it does not include the deuterocanon - it was a little hard to study those books with a Protestant bible
I ended up using the NRSV for that part - in my view it’s very good for study as it provides a very close translation, but the inclusive language and lack of cross-referencing can make things tricky.
Whatever version you choose, make sure it’s not the Good News Bible
