Crucifix Removed!

I am starting to get a little worried. We used to have a crucifix right on the wall behind the altar. Then it was taken down. I thought it was only for a little while, but till today, it is still not back up. I am getting a little worried about this. But, I am asking, is there any reason to worry?
 
they may just be cleaning it or somthing, at my parish, we have a big marble life size crucifix, and it was taken down for a week or so to clean and restore it. The same thing happend with the tabernacle, it was replaced with a different one for restoration.
 
I should ask him, but it doesn’t appear like cleaning. It has been down for almost half a year.
 
It seems to have been replaced by something else, although I cannot p(name removed by moderator)oint the name at the moment.
 
How long has it been gone? And have you ASKED anybody about it?

Was the crucifix was taken down for refurbishing or to protect it while some other modification was made to the church? There could have been some problem or delay that you don’t know about. Is it possible there is a small crucifix on or near the altar itself that is not easily visible to the congregation?

You haven’t really given us enough information to comment.
 
A crucifix is **required **to be on, above or immediately adjacent to the Altar for Mass. Is there a crucifix there?

From the GIRM:
No 308. There is also to be a cross, with the figure of Christ crucified upon it, either on the altar or near it, where it is clearly visible to the assembled congregation. It is appropriate that such a cross, which calls to mind for the faithful the saving Passion of the Lord, remain near the altar even outside of liturgical celebrations.

I don’t know that it’s overreacting, but I’m not sure what good it does to ask people here when you haven’t asked the pastor himself. Perhaps he’ll give you an answer that makes perfect sense and perhaps not. But all anyone here can do is speculate.

Why don’t you talk to him, then let folks know what he had to say.
 
A big reason I don’t attend the CC nearest my home is because they don’t have a crucifix. Instead, they have a modern cross without the image of the Crucified Christ on it. Perhaps I’m being too picky, but it just drives me crazy. That’s why we go to church in the next parish.
