I love to make neckties. Some of them I made using a special type of printable fabric.

I always love to think of new ways to help me to remember God. I thought up the idea of making a Crucifix Tie, so that when I look in the mirror, or at my feet I see Jesus on the cross; Thus, reminding me of Him.

However, I saw the thread on the thread about the sacrilegious “Dartboard Jesus” in the World News section and that made me wonder if it would be okay to put Jesus on the Cross on a necktie.

What do you guys think?

I would not suggest such. Does not seem fitting.

However one could have a “tie tack” that was religious.

NB: I hate ties.

Was not married in one…nor will I be buried in one

(if they remember)

Thanks for the reply! I suppose I could look for a crucifix tie bar instead. 🙂

How about a cross on the tie ? I’ve seen those around…

Perhaps distastefulness of such a tie would depend on how loud it was. If the tie was a sombre color such as olive green or burgundy, narrow, and with a little tiny white crucifix on it in the center that would be better.

tacky. really tacky.

We show our Catholicism by our actions, not what we wear.
Wear a crucifix on a chain of you like

How about small crosses on the tie? From far away might look like dots but up close they are tiny crosses.

Don’t like it at all. Seems like a vanity thing. A small tietac/cross might be less of a attention getter. Or you might even consider cuff links with a cross on them. Religion/faith should be lived, not worn like a fashion statement. Peace.

👍👍👍

I never said it would be tasteful.

Tackiness is not a sin however.

Although sometimes I admit I think it should be. 😉

Your intention seems honorable…to remind you of Jesus when you look in a mirror or downward.
Others here misinterpreted it as wanting to display your faith to others. I believe they’re wrong.

I agree with you.

Plus, I’m not sure why a tie clip (which some people see as tacky) would be okay, while on the tie isn’t?

Also, wearing a crucifix on one’s bracelet or necklace is okay. 🤷

Why is it not okay to display our faith to others?

I think it’s a matter of treating the subject with reverence and taste befitting one’s personal fashion sense.

If you like it, do it… people’s ideas are irrelevant… unless you are trying to find a date

Sometimes these “in your face” displays cause more discord than they do good.
We already know his parents are not exactly on board with his new conversion to Catholicism and openly disagree with him on many things. He lives in their house.
I don’t think it’s prudent to force the issue. At home, or anywhere else.
People should know your a Christian by your actions and deeds. Not because you have religious articles around.

I wouldn’t wear it to show that I’m Catholic, I would wear it to remind myself of God. I have trouble remembering God quite a bit.

My parents are not against me being Catholic. However my father often mocks the precious Blood of Christ when he drinks wine. 😦
