If you’re sitting at home and a friend calls you up and asks you to come out for lunch or a couple of drinks down the pub, but you’re simply not in the mood and lie to him about it… are you going to go to hell for it? It is sinful and it will displease God but you will not be damned for it.
I thought that the devil was the father of lies and the devil is going to be thrown into the lake of fire for all eternity…wouldn’t that mean, if i lied and didn’t confess my sins, i to would go to hell.
But this is exactly what the Sacrament of Confession is. It is the High Priest Jesus Christ applying the merits of His Sacrifice of Calvary on the repentant sinner. You have to understand what the priesthood is… it is His priesthood. The ordained clergy are alter Christus, they act in persona Christi. In the Sacrament of Confession and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass… it is Jesus Christ that is offering and Jesus Christ that is forgiving.
Jesus told his disciples to go out and preach to all the nations. Doesn’t this mean that anybody that beleives in Christ, follows in his footsteps and obey’s his commandment to go out and preach to the nations are priests ordained by Jesus?
Weren’t the apostles regular men, fishermen, taxcollectors, etc…Didn’t they receive the Holy Spirit after his ascension with the 120. Isn’t being baptised by the Holy Spirit considered being ordained.

Satan is indeed called the Father of Lies. However he did not fall because he lied, he fell because of his pride. Lying is an imperfection and it can indeed develop to such a stage that one could lose the eternal crown won for them by Christ.

However it isn’t a one-way ticket to hell. You have a very… poor understanding of the nature of sin and God’s love for us.

Simply, no. There is a massive differences between preaching, baptising and the ordained priesthood. A priest is not necessary for the Sacrament of baptism, anyone can do it in case of necessity. But try as hard as you or I might, we could not confect the Holy Sacrifice if we stood at an altar with the bread and wine in front of us for all eternity. We could not absolve penitents no matter how loud and forceful we screamed “I absolve you…” because we are not ordained priests.

We have a duty to spread the Word but there is also an ordained priesthood in the Church that Christ established, men who are called to be partakers of His Priesthood.

No, they were confirmed at Pentecost, different Sacrament.

Ummmm…Azcards:
The last time I looked,** all** my Bibles were:rolleyes: made by human hands…Am I supposed to:eek: get rid of them? And wait for God to speak to me? Or can I use those human-hand made Bibles to learn more about what God would have of me?
'Cause you’re not very logical.🤷 Just saying…(Unless your Bible :cool:fell from the sky one day???)
Well actually the Bible was written by men but inspired by God. The ten commandments was the only thing actually written by Gods finger but of course it had to be put on paper at some point…God ordained his word when he sent his word in the flesh. Sometimes God speaks to us loud and clear but we are expecting a booming voice from the sky…so we miss it.

Jhn 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies
No, they were confirmed at Pentecost, different Sacrament.
Act 2:1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
Act 2:4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
So if Jesus Baptizes me in the Holy Spirit then I am a priest. Since that’s how they were confirmed.

But you do have a Bible? And unless it dropped from the sky (accompanied by the “booming voice” you mention), it was made by human hands…those hands you seem to feel are somehow never to be involved in anything, or else not live up to your standards. So, you would have to throw out your Bible, by the logic you use to decry crucifixes, crosses, & the like.🤷

No, when you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, that is confirmation. It is NOT ordination, or else anybody & everybody would be able to go around performing marriages. I do:eek: hope that you aren’t claiming that ability??? Because it won’t be legal or moral, or anything but a sham.
You clearly have no idea what “confirmation” is, or means, if you imagine that it has anything to do with the ordaining of clergy.
I dunno…Maybe you shouldn’t have thrown that Bible out as a “manmade object” after all. Since you would profit by reading it, with understanding.

Sorry I wasn’t trying to insult the Catholic faith…and yes i know that Mary was the mother of Jesus…but you should be carefull because that could be misleading to an non believer.
Would the Cross, Crucifix, brown scapular, the rosary, be consider Images or man made objects?
Greetings Azcards,

How in the world can Mary being the Mother of Jesus be misleading to a non believer? I am failing to how this can be.

I have a question, do you wear shirts with art work on them? Ooops, I think they are images made by human hands. How about jewrly? How about any clothing that has a name brand logo on it? Another image made by the hands of man.

I point out the absurdity of your claims because if you are going to say you are not going to wear the cross, crucifix, brown scapular, the rosary [which of course you do not wear], then you need to take it to the full extreme and not wear anything that is made by hands of man that bears an image.

God Bless.

Greetings Azcards,

So what are we to do with man made bibles? I really want to know. You failed to answer the question that was put to you by Zooey.

Greetings Azcards,

How in the world can Mary being the Mother of Jesus be misleading to a non believer? I am failing to how this can be.
Well i was referring to this signature,"All true children of God, the predestinate, have God for their Father and Mary for their Mother; and he who has not Mary for his Mother, has not God for his Father."
~ Saint Louis Marie de Montfort

Now compare to this - (1Jo 2:23No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.)

"We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff" (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302.)

Well I guess this should also be added to everybodies signature…Wait i thought we get our Salvation through Christ.
I have a question, do you wear shirts with art work on them? Ooops, I think they are images made by human hands. How about jewrly? How about any clothing that has a name brand logo on it? Another image made by the hands of man.
Vatican Council II “Having entered deeply into the history of salvation, Mary, in a way, unites in her person and re-echoes the most important doctrines of the faith: and when she is the subject of preaching and **worship **she prompts the faithful to come to her Son, to his sacrifice and to the love of the Father.” (Vol. 1, pp. 420 and 421)

Vatican Council II “The practice of placing sacred images in churches so that they [the images] be venerated by the faithful is to be maintained.” (Vol. 1, p. 35)

Vatican Council II
“From the very earliest days of the Church there has been **a tradition whereby images of our Lord, his holy Mother, and of saints are displayed in churches for the veneration **of the faithful.” (Vol. 1, p. 193)

Exd 34:14 Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

Deu 4:28 There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.

I only mentioned articles that are used to some how get me closer to God and i would rather play it safe by not using objects to do it. further it clearly sounds like i’m not the one taking to the extreme.
God Bless.

I have 2 questions should you wear a crucifix to bed? like basically 24 hours and my second question is if somebody commits a sin while wearing a blessed crucifix does the crucifix need to be exorcised or be reblessed and does it difer if the sin is venial or mortal ? Thank you
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Wearing a crucifix to bed is like asking should I wear myuu shoes. Should you die and you diid have your crucifix on, than, in many cases it would help you. If one is dying and cannot reach a priest, you can have your crucifix and make your act of contrition. Alll you have to say is: :Jesus, I am sorry.

JESUS I TRUST IN YOU

jr

Sometimes I wear a crucifix to bed, sometimes I take it off. I almost always wear my brown scapular. My husband doesn’t wear either to bed because he finds it uncomfortable.

Greetings Azcards,

Truly I do not know where to begin with this. I will say again, What in the world are we to to do with man-made bibles? What would the answer that you would give to this question?

Now that is out of the way, I shall try to address the rest of this post.
Well i was referring to this signature,"All true children of God, the predestinate, have God for their Father and Mary for their Mother; and he who has not Mary for his Mother, has not God for his Father."

This is true. I cannot convince a Non-Catholic why this is true.
Now compare to this - (1Jo 2:23No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.)
This is also true. You cannot deny the Mother of God and still profess belief in the Son. You cannot have Jesus without His Mother.
COLOR=black]"We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff" (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302.)
/QUOTE]

The Roman Pontiff is Christ’s representative on Earth. Catholic who submit to the Pope are submitting to Christ. Christ set the Church up in this way.
Well I guess this should also be added to everybodies signature…Wait i thought we get our Salvation through Christ./QUOTE]

You are right we do get our Salvation through Christ. The Catholic Church teaches this. Christ guides the Church through His Vicar on Earth, the Pope.
azcards;8402724:
Vatican Council II "Having entered deeply into the history of salvation
, Mary, in a way, unites in her person and re-echoes the most important doctrines of the faith: and when she is the subject of preaching and **worship **she prompts the faithful to come to her Son, to his sacrifice and to the love of the Father." (Vol. 1, pp. 420 and 421)

I think you are failing to realize the placement of worship. We do not worship Mary, we honor her. She in every thing that she did always pointed to her Son. And she continues to do that today.
Vatican Council II "The practice of placing sacred images in churches so that they [the images] be venerated by the faithful is to be maintained
." (Vol. 1, p. 35)

Veneration is not the same things as worshipping.
Vatican Council II
"From the very earliest days of the Church there has been **a tradition whereby images of our Lord, his holy Mother, and of saints are displayed in churches for the veneration **
of the faithful." (Vol. 1, p. 193)

Again veneration is not the same thing as worshipping
Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

Yes this is true. However Jesus honored his mother. Should we not do any less than Him?
There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.

Catholic worship God alone in Three Divine Persons. We honor Mary and the saints. Two different things.
I only mentioned articles that are used to some how get me closer to God and i would rather play it safe by not using objects to do it. further it clearly sounds like i’m not the one taking to the extreme.
Actually if one was to follow the train of your logic it does take it to the extreme.

I know these are short answers, but that is all the time I have for now. I want to get to some other threads.

God Bless.

I want all to know that, I wear a Crucifix 24/7.The only time I take it of is when I take a
Bath. See,I wear it, to show that I truely LOVE my LORD who suffer for me,when I walk outside, it is outside my shirt, or my Jacket, their are times, that I Kiss the CROSS, when
I lay in bed,and I said Jesus ,thank you for coming to save me a sinner I LOVE you LORD ,more than the material things in this word, and when I ,am sad or hurt, I also Kiss
the Cross, for it makes me feel better. :harp:

I have 2 questions should you wear a crucifix to bed?

like if somebody commits a sin while wearing a blessed crucifix does the crucifix need to be exorcised or be reblessed and does it difer if the sin is venial or mortal ? Thank youno and no
