I cry every time I read anything about the Carthusian vocation, about discerning vocations, about hermetic vocations or about monastic holiness in general. They’re not tears of joy, but there is something beautiful about those tears.

I don’t know if that means anything. I also used to find myself crying whenever my ex and I would talk about growing old together. I don’t know what that means.

Does anyone else who’s discerning a vocation get that feeling?

it’s a great yearning.

i want to cry when i see religious brothers or sisters, or convents or monastery. i want to be a brother the next minute.

But remember, patience and peace tell us of God’s will, not always emotions. Emotions can be misleading sometimes.

Look for an inner peace. The decision might still be a hard one to make, but there is inner peace and a trust of God.

Time also shows us God’s will. If we can sit for a while and be okay with our decision, and watch for God to provide the right opportunities, we can be sure it is God calling us, not just our own desires.

I hope this helps!

i think and believe that it is a natural feeling but with divine messege attached.

i felt and still feel the same way whenever i see a priest even my fellow seminarians

With the tears, there is an aura of the presence of God and it spurs me into making good decisions on how to strengthen my spiritual life.

It is a natural thing but always have a sense of the presence of God when you feel that way.
