Does anyone like CSI Miami simply because it is SUCH a LOUSY SHOW?

Granted, I am the type that loves Monty Python so this is probably a perverse reason for liking a television show but the writing is horrible, the acting stinks and Caruso is beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst televsion actor on the PLANET…it’s like watching a TRAIN wreck it is so bad. I don’t get to watch much of it anymore because I am part of the RCIA team and we teach on Monday nights but I swear I have thought about taping it just so I can watch it…does anyone else get a kick out of bad tv as much as I do?

I’ve tried to watch a few episodes when it first came out, but couldn’t stand it because it was so awful. And the premise is awful: lab techs solving crimes all the way through. I guess I got spoiled by the realism of Homicide: Life On the Streets.

I can’t watch it because I absolutely cannot stand that red headed pompous *** that’s in it.

Yes, it is one of my “guilty pleasures” - I love the way the tech handle crime scenes and evidence while looking glamourous. The awful dialogue ROCKS - and I truly love it when there are 2 crime scenes and they end up being related by some wild scenario!

Thank you - I thought I was the only one who could be in love with a BAD television show…do you think David Caruso KNOWS he cannot act?

My favorite part is when he puts on his bad a** attitude and puts on his sunglasses…I cant help but laugh everytime that happens. It is almost as funny as when his 120 lb. behind threatens (outside of the system) a 6 ft. 250 lb hardened criminal.

I just love to hate the little catch phrase that horatio says in the beginning, after the initial look at the crime scene. It’s so awful and cliche it’s actually entertaining! Well, not in the way I think the writers expect…

Any one else notice that David Caruso takes off his sunglasses and then puts them back on 30 seconds later? A TV show that reviews games (X-play) reviewed the CSI: Miami game, and came up with a drinking game you can play as you watch the show. The only three I remember are: 1) every time a scantily clad blond fires a gun you get a shot, 2) every time David Caruso touches his sunglasses you get a shot, and 3) every time David Caruso talks to a copse you get a shot. Oh, I just remembered one more, and don’t feel like editing what I wrote: 4) every time David Caruso looks creepy you get a shot!
I don’t think anyone could make it through a full episode, they would pass out in the first 15 minutes.

Yours in Christ,
Thursday

This is my FAVORITE show…I LOVE Horatio…The way he talks is so cool…I lilke ALL the CSI’s, actually, and try not to miss any of them…Thank goodness for our DVR…Now I never miss anything I really want to see.

What do you mean this is awful television? I think it’s fun, and once again…Horatio is the best!

I could never understand the draw of the various CSIs. They all seem so drab and wooden and boring and poorly acted. Plus, it’s popularity has had a bad effect on every other police procedural on TV. Even just a year or two ago, Crossing Jordan or Law & Order would imply that there was a really explicit crime scene or piece of evidence or corpse–you would see at most an edge, and the reaction of the actors present. Now, thanks apparently to CSI, it’s all right out in the open. Do they really think viewers are attracted to the grisly just for the sake of the grisly?

Then again, consider the gladiator fights at the Colisseum… and CSI itself for that matter.

Being honest with you, I don’t like the other CSI(s). Too grisly. But CSI Miami stars one of the worst actors to ever grace the small or large screen. It is addictive, watching Caruso. Like watching a car accident, I guess…

Caruso’s acting is wooden at worst, farcial at best. In fact, I often wonder if he is doing it on purpose. I mean, does he sit in his trailer and, with a pencil, and make a mark where he is going to do the long pause in each of his lines which is (I am guessing) the big expression of dramatic emphasis?

Is he trying to compensate for the bad writing?

We had a game like this in the 1980’s for another really REALLY bad show - Dynasty. You each had to pick a character’s name. Every time someone else said the person’s name you took a shot…if you got Blake or Krystal, you ended up being driven home for sure.

I admit it, my wife and I rarely miss the show. I cannot explain why we like it so much.

Everything is so unrealistic…from the “perfect” people, predictable dialogue, immaculate and dramatically-lit crime lab (notice how the sun is always setting?), and beyond state-of-the-art technology…I guess it defies reason why we all watch it.

Come to think of it, I am confounded by the success of this entire CSI franchise! What city is next? That should be the next thread…

Whew!!! Wiping the tears off my face from all that laughing! I – LLLOOOVVVEEEEE— CSI… all of them. I wanted to be a forensic pathologist so I’m intreged by some of the science lab stuff and then I love the “whodunit” aspect… I hate having my dh sit next to me watching it because he’d rather watch a flea circus and when he wipes the drool from his face after watching about 15 minutes of it, he’ll go “Let me know when the poor idiots figure out so and so did it, with the rope in the library.” and he’ll go play his XBox. And sure enough… he’s always right!!!

I love the CSI’s, the Law and Orders, House, Without a Trace… jeez I watch too much TV. I guess I know what will keep me company when dh deploys in a two months. 😦

Back in my wilder days, we might have used that as a drinking game.* A shot everytime he puts on his sunglasses. Then again, that might put one in danger of alcohol poisoning.

*For the record, I don’t drink anymore.

HI…I love all the same shows you do…And I LOVE DC, on CSI Miami…I don’t care what they say about him! I love the way he talks, and the way he takes his sunglasses off and puts them back on…

We have a DVR, and I record it all…Luckily, my DH enjoys the same shows I do…for the most part…So he watches them with me.

I’m on the RCIA Team of our parish too, and always record whatever I think I’ll miss. That DVR is just about my favorite toy.

OK…I already know I watch too much TV…No comments from the peanut gallery, please…

RCIA team member here too…no DVR yet…still using the VCR!!! And I am guilty - I love it…only for all the wrong reasons (sputter and laugh)

Last night’s ending was the BEST

“the blood of his victims will be on your hands”

I really wanted the last line to be “or your shoes…maybe your shoes…”

Dynasty… [shudder] I never thought I’d hear about that show again…

I’m resurrecting this thread. Why? Because as hackneyed as CSI: Miami is, the writers have made Horatio’s religion a feature of the series in the past couple seasons.

You remember the episodes in Brazil, where they shot half the episode right beneath the famous statue of Jesus? And how about Horatio’s going to confession in the next episode?

Thing is, I can’t figure out if it’s favorable or deleterious to the faith.

Horatio can give *the most intimidating *look!! And the squeaky voiced blonde who is a gun/bullet authority?

I love this show! DC cracks me up with his weird sing song delivery and the sunglasses.
Living in the area of London that I do, I’ve had the misfortune to see a forensic team at work at a crime scene and they all wear those paper overalls and latex gloves and coverings on their feet. DC and his gang just bowl in there, no uniform police around to stop the public getting in, high heels all over the place and hair hanging down (oh here I’m talking about Calleigh)
Someone on Youtube edited all the opening “Horatio-isms” together and it was hilarious!
I watch all these crime shows, CSI, Law and order, Without a Trace etc. The only one I don’t watch sometimes is Law and Order SVU - the storylines are a bit hard to take as entertainment sometimes.
…I watch way too much TV!
