And you apply the same logic to a certain conservative group that’s only excommunicated in one diocese, right?
I believe the two rulings to be different in actual wording. That certain conservative group was worldwide by the Vatican ruling, while the Lincoln diocese one was worded just towards that diocese.

The members of both groups are excommunicated only in one diocese. Using “Vatican rulings” to defend a group whose views are condemned by the Vatican is silly anyway.

I assume the conservative group we’re talking about is the SSPX. Mind sharing a link to the “Vatican ruling” about them?

Yes, I left out the name to avoid changing the subject. I’m not sure quite what you’re looking for though…I meant that the bishop of Lincoln excommunicated both Call to Action and the SSPX locally in his diocese.

Ah, ok. It sounded like there were two Vatican rulings being discussed.

Anyway, I’ll try find out some more info on this and put something together for the local ordinary, but don’t worry–I’m not in the Nebbi diocese in Uganda, so I’m not really doing it here. 😃

Again, Nurse Joy, if you could pass on any links or info, that would be appreciated.

Hitting my pastor with a sledgehammer isn’t what this is about. I’m just doing a reality check with some other reasonable people about the appropriateness of the CTA appearance in the bulletin.

It looks like my guts were right and this is something that we should talk about some.

I don’t think you necessarily have to hit someone with a sledgehammer. But silence is not really a just option. It’s an error, a serious error, and needs correction.

But I may have misinterpreted you original post to mean the pastor green lit this. He may not have if he does not have much hand in making the bulletin. So perhaps a patient and reasoned letter to the pastor would be sufficient. Here is a list of some articles on CTA for your consideration: catholicculture.org/search/searchResults.cfm?querynum=1&searchid=290463&showCount=10&CFID=8775621&CFTOKEN=83478902
