CTS Douay-Rheims Bible

Hello!

I have the CTS Bible Douay-Rheims version published in I believe the 50’s or 60’s and it is starting to fail on me. The spine of it is about to fall off. I really, really like this Bible not just because of the translation of it being DR but because it is so portable and compact 3 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches and its 2 inches thick.

Does anyone know where to find another one identical to this? I guess the only place would have to be ebay or antique stores. I’m just wondering for when this Bible does start to go on me. Or, if anyone has an extra one laying around that they would be willing to spare, PM me!

There is one on E-Bay right now for $61.75 buy-it-now (I’ve a search for one of the new CTS New Catholic Bibles saved, and I remembered seeing it last time I was searching - I’m not the seller). Not sure if I can post a link to the auction, so I’ll just give you the title to search for:

“Vintage Catholic Holy Bible Douay Rheims Rare Mini Edition C.T.S. 1957 Challoner”

I’m guessing that’s probably over-priced, but I don’t know what makes older bibles collectible, so I can’t say for sure if that’s fair or not.

Some people prefer to hold a book, but have you tried the ones online? They come with commentary, images, cross-refs, ease of search, concordance etc. You can also use them from any browser, such as on your tablet or smart phone. i.e. click on my signature link

If you absolutely have to have the CTS version then used is the only way since it is out of print. But if you just want the Challoner update of the douay rheims then you have a few choices.

Best bet is to go to Amazon.com and just search “douay rheims” they have a few that are in print and they do discount most of their books.
