Has anyone heard of Cuddle Party? Apparently it’s where people just cuddle with other people for a while and do boundary exercises. The red Near Occasion of Sin lights kind of flashed when I read it, but the FAQ insists that sexual contact is not permitted.

Does anyone have an opinion on it? I’d never go for it since I suspect that there’s some questionable morality afoot and I don’t like being touched anyway.

I would say sexual contact or not it just sounds creepy!

Cuddling people - I cuddle my h2b and babies I hug friends and family members but not for prolonged periods of time and a party merely for cuddles sounds a little bit freaky!!!

on a further note why would you need cuddle sessions???

EW!

The idea of restoring non-sexual affection is all fun, except it still looks a bit weird to see strangers cuddle. Hug, maybe. But cuddle? Admittedly, people are touch-phobic these days, but the party seems to be other extreme.

When I was in my early twenties, our group of friends always have these supposed cuddle parties…it’s just the way we all were.

No sex involved at all, we were all really close and good friends.

So…

Yeah. Spooning with complete strangers sounds like fun to me.

Yeah, I think this is not really advisable. It seems freaky. Almost like grooming people for group sex.

Is it complete strangers?

I must have missed something…off to look at the site again…

Edit: eeewwww…no, I wouldn’t go to something like this!

Looks gross… all those feet intertwined? No thank you.

One of links listed upcoming cuddle parties and more detailed information. For example, at the one in Wisconsin, men are charged a $20 cover charge but women are free. Hmmmm? What’s up with that? I know alot of guys from Wisconsin… serious Packer fans and I just can’t picture them shelling out $20 bucks to lay down in a cuddle pit with other guys.

I know I wouldn’t pay to lie in a pile of cute 20-something girls, no matter how hot, chaste, and devoutly Catholic they were. I still can’t get comfortable around girls…

I think that is TOO much physical contact.

And it’s kind of weird. I’m not anti-affection but I don’t think I could handle that kind of affection from strangers.

“Boundary exercises”? Sheesh. Sounds more like an exercise in letting people cross your personal boundaries and calling YOU weird if it bothers you!

Boundaries are good. Ask anyone who’s been taken advantage of (abused and exploited women and children come to mind immediately.) In this day and age, we’re probably better off teaching people how to SET boundaries, not break 'em down!

I posted this earlier, but after some additional thought, and poking around this terrible offensive website, I want to amply my earlier remarks.

This is not merely gross and yucky, as many have commented. This is far worse.

I believe that this group that organizes these things has a nefarious purpose.

I believe that these people are actually trying to desensitize people to normal sexuality and monogamy and increase the acceptance of homosexual activities, group sex, serial sex, “hooking up” and other sexual deviations and sins. I believe this is a dangerous activity.

^Indeed, especially when you read the part about things that “come up”–referring to the inevitable, uh, erections that will happen in such a setting. The bottom line with them is, "Hey! Erections during Cuddle Parties are A-OK! It’s perfectly normal and means things are going well! They’re nothing to be ashamed of! 👍 "

Yeah. Like I want some strange guy spooning me and jabbing a huge A-OK tent pole in my back.

My eye twitched when I read the part about erections being Mother Nature’s way of giving a thumbs up.

Related: This spring, students at the University of Notre Dame broke the Guinness record for “longest spoon train”.
“We obviously loved spooning in the first place, so we just thought why don’t we be the best spooners we can be? And it just spiraled into something huge,” event coordinator Sharbrough said.
As ski team spoon co-captain with Kerry McGuire, he planned and advanced the idea for the event.
Spooning occurs when two people lay on their sides facing the same direction so that they fit snugly together.
“It’s not immoral at all,” ski team junior Katie Rehberger said. “It’s a way to unite the campus.”
This is a school with strictly-enforced ‘parietals’ (ie, visitation hours in single sex dorms). It really just makes me giggle…😛

Not sure I’d go to a cuddle party, though!
