Oh, Midwestern food. With few exceptions (a proper appreciation of bratwurst comes to mind), I do not miss you.

Even though my family isn’t from the midwest, I think they would prefer this kind of food to what we will be serving.

My family is big on bland, mushy food. Anything with flavor or that is perceived as exotic is automatically bad.

I once made the mistake of suggesting we go out for Indian food. “Indian food?! Who would want to eat that?” Oh, I dunno, about a billion and a half people.

Yup, that’s my family too.

I’m glad I seem to be the oddball in that regard (and maybe a few others. )

PhiloMed, I may have to ask you to share the menu…we went to a wedding last year with an Egyptian groom and it was some of the best food I ate in my life.

Even though my husband’s family is definitely not midwestern…their food is no better.

Off-the-boat Irish, second generation. Salt and Pepper are considered “exotic” spices.
