What is the rubric for cleaning out the cups used to hold the Communion wine? Does the priest have to do it or can the lay ministers take the cups directly from dispensing the sine into the sacrasity for cleaning?
The Chalices are emptied right after Holy Communion by consuming the remaining Blood of Christ. this is done either by the Priest or Deacon at the altar, or by the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion who is only permitted to consume what remains of the Blood of Christ in their chalice. What is the rubric for cleaning out the cups used to hold the Communion wine?
