I looked up two sisters who taught me in grade school. They became co-principals of the school and then were fired after a few years. They did not wear the habit. They both teach art. They also were close to a lay, unmarried woman teacher. This teacher got extremely mad at her seventh grade class one day when we discussed the old english word for a bundle of sticks and the word was "******.I didn’t understand why some of the kids snickered at the time. But this teacher got very angry and screamed at us for laughing. She screamed at us to be quiet. I had not seen her get this upset about something.

Anyway, I googled the two sisters and found a picture of them together at the Sinsinawa Dominican site. Apparently, they both teach art classes together and have been together for many years. Here is the link:

They have a heavy emphasis on peace and justice. I wonder if this is the type of order that the Pope is looking into to understand their practices.

From their site:

“As Sinsinawa Dominican women, we are called
to proclaim the Gospel
through the ministry of preaching and teaching
in order to participate in the building
of a holy and just society.”

Sounds good to me…as I haven’t decided on an order yet, I’ll keep them in mind. From some of the pictures, it looks like they accept older women.

My first exposure to the Sinsinawa Dominicans was through a sweet, elderly sister/RN who taught me NFP, way back in the day! Talk about awkward. :o

I have known a few since then, and - bright, talented, giving women though they are - they have, indeed, fallen on the “left of center” side of the spectrum with regard to their opinions re: “women’s issues”. Here is a link to a page on their website:

I would think that, yes, they may well attract Vatican attention.

Yes, I think that people interested in peace and justice are very suspicious.
