Curious Question Has anyone ever heard anything about nuns wearing their habits in Heaven or priests wearing their clerics in Heaven?

I have often wondered this question because religious give up and then gain in eternal life. I’m sure there is some kind of distiction that they are Brides of Christ or that they are a priest. In Heaven there is no more rule to be upheld right? All of the religious orders are all united into one. I’m just trying to picture everything in my mind and I can’t. 🙂

There are no clothes in heaven. Why would we need them in a perfect state?

We really don’t know how it will be with clothes in heaven. We will surely all know the path of each to God, whether that was in marriage, religious life, or as a priest. But with the glorified body and the light of God, we might see that simply in each person him/herself, without needing any clothes to signify it.

In one of the biographies of St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier I’ve read, the first Sister Magdalen to die appeared in the Refuge habit (different from what the Magdalens wear), saying she had been joined to the Refuge sisters’ choir in Heaven.

HTH.

Did Adam & Eve wear clothes in the Garden of Eden? No
Was the Garden of Eden a sinless existence? Yes
Is Heaven a perfect sinless existence? Yes
Using Eden was God giving us a peek into Heaven? Yes

There are no clothes in Heaven to cover our nakedness because we won’t have any.

If there were, then one might ask whether anti-ageing creams & deodorants are available - &, which ones 😉 (and also, how they are produced…)

Let’s just assume for the sake of argument that there are clothes in heaven to distinguish our different roles that we had here on Earth. Religious wearing their clerics and habits, lay people wearing their civilian clothes. Men watching TV, drinking a beverage and the women washing clothes for billions and billions of heavenly beings. Sounds right to me.

Of course this is just an assumption. Perhaps the men will grow and harvest the cotton, sew the clothes and wash and iron everything while the women relax and have a good time. :yup:

Who knows. Eye has not see and ear has not heard. . . . .

The visions and revelations we have about Heaven have in common that people wear clothing, both in Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition…

It retains its virtues of being an outward sign of the inner state of a person.

Crowns are reserved for those who have won great victories in this life, though not all will have them. There are both great and lesser in the Kingdom of Heaven.

None shall be crowned who has not fought well.
2 Tim. 2: 5

“Surrounding the throne I saw twenty-four other thrones on which twenty-four elders sat, dressed in white garments and with gold crowns on their heads.”

Revelation 4:4

“Each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to be patient a little while longer until the number was filled of their fellow servants and brothers who were going to be killed as they had been.”

Revelation 6:11

As to the question of beer in Heaven, we need look no further than St. Brigid, of Irish fame… lol. 🙂 I believe she has been granted her wish.

Regarding habits. . . They retain them for visits here so certainly they wear them at least some of the time. All of the time? I know not.

More than one saint has had a habit given to him by the Blessed Virgin.

Certainly the love of the orders can be imagined to have been retained in those signs, though I am also certain the Lord has given them new garments to wear with new names – whether of that kind or other…? Each according to the Lord’s will?

If you meet one of them ask about it, perhaps you’ll get more than a smile.
