I am curious about the number of people worldwide who are members of SSPX churches. Does anyone have this info?
I think the first thing you need to remember is that the SSPX is mainly society of priests and religious, hence the name Priestly Society of St. Pius X, which is their actual full name. Until 1980 there were no laity affiliated with the order. After 1980, due to strong requests from the laity, a third order was formed. Lay members must request enrollment into the third order. Simple attendance at an SSPX chapel, does not automatically make one a member.I am curious about the number of people worldwide who are members of SSPX churches. Does anyone have this info?
That is interesting information, but I’m trying to get an idea of how many people follow them.I am curious about the number of people worldwide who are members of SSPX churches. Does anyone have this info?
The estimate of laity that are adherents of the SSPX is anywhere between 1 and 1.5 million, depending on the source you read.I think the largest amount of lay people that support them are in Europe…My priest said France and Switzerland had a lot of adherents…I am not trying to be insulting…I just know know if they are called members…I don’t know how this is structured
It is a bit different from our church because there is no pope, I think
They aren’t a separate Church and recognize the Pope in Rome. So I have no idea what you are talking about with that quote. It is a bit different from our church because there is no pope, I think
If you include the laity its estimated to be 1.2 million globally which is only 0.1% of total number of Catholics. Relatively small.I am curious about the number of people worldwide who are members of SSPX churches. Does anyone have this info?
Sounds like lot of souls to be brought back into the sheepfold. If you include the laity its estimated to be 1.2 million globally which is only 0.1% of total number of Catholics. Relatively small.
