I am curious about the number of people worldwide who are members of SSPX churches. Does anyone have this info?

I think the first thing you need to remember is that the SSPX is mainly society of priests and religious, hence the name Priestly Society of St. Pius X, which is their actual full name. Until 1980 there were no laity affiliated with the order. After 1980, due to strong requests from the laity, a third order was formed. Lay members must request enrollment into the third order. Simple attendance at an SSPX chapel, does not automatically make one a member.

With that out of the way

According to the US website:
USA DISTRICT STATISTICS
67 priests
7 deacons
13 brothers
80 seminarians
24 sisters
850 Third Order members
100 chapels
18 priories
3 houses of formation
4 retreat houses
25 schools & 1 college
1 publishing house

From their World General site these numbers seem to be as of 2005

1) Houses
** ** ** **
** ** Seminaries: 6 (Switzerland, Germany, France, USA, Argentina and Australia).
Priories: 159, in 30 countries, on the 5 continents.
Schools: 3 Universities, about 20 Secondary Schools & 50 Primary Schools.
Retreat Houses: 7
Nursing Homes: 3 operating and 1 in preparation.
Chaplaincy of traditional communities and schools: about 20.
2) Members
Bishops: 4
Priests: 463
Seminarians: 160
Brothers: 85
Oblates: 75

That is interesting information, but I’m trying to get an idea of how many people follow them.
What is the total number of people worldwide who attend or are members of SSPX congregations? Is the scale in thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands or millions?

I think the largest amount of lay people that support them are in Europe…My priest said France and Switzerland had a lot of adherents…I am not trying to be insulting…I just know know if they are called members…I don’t know how this is structured

It is a bit different from our church because there is no pope, I think

The estimate of laity that are adherents of the SSPX is anywhere between 1 and 1.5 million, depending on the source you read.

The laity cannot be rightly called “members” of the SSPX. The SSPX is a priestly fraternity. Only the priests and bishops are “members” per say.

I hope this answers your question.

Recent statement in an Italian article on SSPX said 60 thousand world wide.

They aren’t a separate Church and recognize the Pope in Rome. So I have no idea what you are talking about with that quote.

If you include the laity its estimated to be 1.2 million globally which is only 0.1% of total number of Catholics. Relatively small.

Sounds like lot of souls to be brought back into the sheepfold.
