That’s not true. Archbishop Pell of Sydney has spoken out very clearly and intelligently in support of the Pope. Do a google search on “Pell Pope Muslims.”

I’m not sure exactly what we would expect the Bishops to say. They are certainly not going to do anything more which might cause even more violence. You’re right, the Pope did an excellent job in his speech and doesn’t really need other Bishops to come out in support of his words. I’m sure my Bishop, Bishop D’Arcy, supports the Pope’s words as he always does even if he makes no statement.
What an appropriate reading, and one we all should meditate upon. Those of us who think we live in freedom and without fear are finding the world closing in, and we may all be in the same boat in our lifetimes. The evil one is always looking for a way in every generation to bring persecution to the beloved of God. We live in a world where we are so much more aware of the sufferings of our brothers and sisters around the globe, and therefore it seems up close and personal, as it should.

Thats because secular countries do not forbid freedom of expression. Unlikely in Muslim countries where freedom of expression is ‘okay’ as long as it is not touching Islam and its stuffs.

What kind of letter you want to send him? Do you want to support him by saying “Holy Father, you did a great job when you gave a wonderful rational speech in Germany. Please repeat more speeches of that kind or even more stronger than that and not just in your home country Germany but in the Universities of all countries so that there should be a non stop outrage and strong violent reaction from Islamic world against your Holy infallible position and Catholic church and innocent lives of nuns and priests should be put in harm’s way and Catholic Churches should burned down as a result of your strong speeaches. Please do not follow your predecessor Holy Father John Paul II because you too are a Holy Father and you have a right to use your infallible power as much as your predecessor have had.”Maybe we should all flood him with letters letting him know we support him.
we must write to him that next time he must make sure his words cannot be twisted to convey a different meaning because there are millions of people who cannot read between the lines in order to understand what the Pope is talking about and there are millions of people who cannot help get beyong the superficial reading…We must warn him as well that if his speech is not well understood, nuns and priests will be killed and churches burnt down and Christiams persecuted everywhere , all this in the name of the religion of rationality and peace.
How about simply saying “We love you as our fellow brother in Christ and our prayers are with you that you will have courage and strength to do His will in all circumstances” ?
