Curses and Intrusive thoughts?

Have you tried prayer? Repeated, fully engaged, heartfelt prayer? Have you talked to a priest about it?
Prayer works against demons. It is like the weapons of the warrior in spiritual warfare.
The power of prayer is real. Demons are real, and they hate prayer. They will do anything to keep you from it. Intrusive thoughts are not your fault. You don’t will them into being. Prayer is an act of the will though–“I am going to pray, and nothing can stop me.” You can do it! Many saints have done so–we can too!

Yes, I have been trying to say the rosary daily for the past few days and it has helped, however I still get some bad thoughts. I plan on talking to a priest as soon as I am able to (almost 2 weeks from now!) Thanks for the suggestions 😀

Good news about the Rosary!
Please remember you can pray all day long. And definitely whenever bad thoughts occur. The Rosary isn’t always convenient to pull out and pray. But short prayers are highly effective too.

Many saints have struggled in this way. They took the Sacraments frequently, and prayed constantly.

A question–why do you have to wait almost two weeks to talk to a priest?

My school doesn’t start up again until almost 2 weeks from now and I am staying in a rural area with no available priest.

Is it a Catholic school, then? Have you received the Catholic Sacraments? Are your parents or legal guardians Catholic?

Yes, I go to a catholic school and my family is catholic (I have been confirmed)

Then you assist at (attend) Mass every Sunday, yes? And confessions on Saturday?

Got it. Well, there are priests in the confessional on Saturday. I often see whole families at Reconciliation. This is a very good thing.

You can also make an appointment to meet with your priest. You can even ask the priest to visit. Invite him to dinner!

You’re welcome!
I’d guess all priests are familiar with intrusive thoughts, and that the subject comes up in the confessional fairly often.

This is a beautiful little book. It contains a large number of prayers to aid in fighting the devil and his influence. I need to go back and re-read it myself.
Also available on Kindle.

@FCS

I think my experiences may be similar to yours. I had non-stop blasphemous thoughts when I worked at Catholic organization. When I left that job, I took a graduate course at a state university. Then, horrible racist thoughts tortured me. I was afraid of blurting out racist slurs, when, in fact, I am mixed race.

When that course ended, the thoughts went away. I went on to be an adjunct professor. I had no problem with the intrusive thoughts.

I have concluded that my intrusive thoughts were situational. It was a horrible experience.

But please know that it can be overcome. Above all, you must remember that these thoughts aren’t a reflection of who you are or what you believe. They are a reflection of stress.

Talking to a priest and a therapist is a good idea.

God bless you. I know you can get through this difficult time.

I hope my comment helps.

Thanks for your comment-that makes me feel better to know that it isn’t just me with situational intrusive thoughts!
