Custody of the mind & imagination

I’m realizing that a lot of sins in my life stem from a lack of custody of the mind and custody of the imagination. Can anyone provide me with tips on how to attain custody of the mind and custody of the imagination.

Work. I think working(or service) is a saving grace. Pray the Rosary when tempted by mind and body. I am a firm believer in the novena "Mary, undoer of Knots. Make a novena of your choice. Peace and prayers for you.

As soon as I notice my mind straying into unhealthy thoughts, I stop thinking them. Sometimes I’ll even leave the room I’m in to force my mind to think about something else.

At this point, I’ve been noticing the “innocent” daydreaming that leads to problems down the road, and chasing those thoughts away as well.

It’s a process. Be gentle with yourself, but show no mercy to thoughts that lead to sin.

God understands, and He will help you.
