So I was sitting on the floor sorting laundry last night while DS (2yo) played. He comes over to me w/ his toy car cradled gently in his arms and whispered to ‘car go night night.’ So he holds the toy out for me to give a good-night kiss. Then, when DH came in the room, he had to give it ‘night nights’ too. So then DS takes the little car and lays it on a pillow on the floor and brings a blanket over to cover it. Half a minute later he tell it, ‘wake up!’

Then this morning, he brought his teddy bear to breakfast. I’m getting things from the fridge and I turn around to see that he’s put his bear in his high chair and he’s teaching him the sign of the cross to say grace!!! I have to say, a very proud moment for me.

Just had to share.

That’s great! My 2 year old girl does the same kinds of things. The other morning, I came through the den, and she had draped a blanket over her little rocking horse’s head. Cracked me up!😃

If you really want to have fun, get one of those toys that stay up by them selves, and have your son put it to bed. My oldest DD when she was two tried to do that with a moo-cow that did that. Totally unprompted by me. The result was hilarous. She was very sweet to start with and then gradually got more and more insistant. We had to step in before she got too frustrated and help hold the cow down. The funny part is that this happened everynight for a week before she learned not to put the cow to bed.

On the way home from dinner out tonight:

DS almost 7: “I want my 1st car to be a black Harley motorcycle and I’ll wear a black jacket and black helmet.”

Me: horrified silence

DS almost 9: “Wait until I grow up first and I’ll invent a night vision helmet for you.”

DS almost 7: “I don’t need that because when it’s dark out I’ll be in bed.”

Me: Silent laughter, imagining the tough biker guy whose Mom makes him go to bed when it gets dark out!

Delightful stories! Thanks for sharing. It brings smiles to the day.

Ah, kids… they are so sweet!

My BIL is 100% cowboy, so he and his wife were puzzled when my little niece Faith informed them that, when she grew up, she wanted to be a vegetarian.

DBIL: “Are you sure that’s what you want to be?”

Faith: “Yes!”

Repeated a few times… then,

DSIL: “You know what a vegetarian is, don’t you?”

Faith: “Of course! An animal doctor!”

God bless them all,

Ruthie

5 yr old grandson got two of the 3 things he wished for for Christmas–snow and a box of legos. The third wish was “I want to BE Darth Vader” which has yet to happen. He was DV for Halloween, but the costume is not good enough he wants to BE DV. Like his cousins he has seen and memorized the entire Star Wars series with dire results.
