Cycle Savvy- TCOYF for Teens

I saw this book at the library and thought of the many ladies with teenage girls on here.
I have not read Cycle Savvy, but it might be a good book. It is by the author of Taking Charge of Your Fertility.
I figure it will probably be something you moms will want to read first, and then give to your daughters.
Good springboard perhaps?

There is a section about Sex, however. Which may be something the moms will want to read first and discuss with the daughters.

I think it would have been good to learn more about my cycles at a younger age. I would have understood more about my hormones and why my body was doing certain things. I would have also known when my period was going to start and not have to worry so much about having an accident. I think this type of education is ok. The only bad thing is that will it teach girls that it is harder to get pregnant than you think and let them be more risky if they choose to have premarital sex?

I personally have no idea. I have the book on hold at the library. I will give more once I have read it.

I doubt it.

First, girls can learn about their cycles without learning about sex right away, so one need only share that kind of information when it is age appropriate.

Second, there is a lot of inaccurate information floating around out there already about when one can or can’t get pregnant (such as the notion that you can’t get pregnant the first time you ‘do it’, etc)

Third, if a girl has accurate information about her body, and how to read her fertility signs, she’ll know exactly how hard/easy it is for her to get pregnant. The beauty of this kind of knowledge is that it gives a girl/woman a much more realistic idea of what is going on with her body, whether she is concerned about ovulating or her period, or whatever else.
