Another new thread here prompts this thought re “Da-Vinci Code” type works.

Suppose a fiction writer were to produce a work - later made into a film - that “exposed” the “Secret” (and not so secret) societies" in the world who’s principle aims were to destroy the Catholic Church…

Could you imagine the response of the secular world to such a work?
It would be branded as, “paranoia” and “lies” and “distortions” and (fill in the blank)phobic…

Guess this is not a question so much as just a mid-morning Friday thought…

Peace
James

“The Jack Chick Code”. I like it! 👍

Anti-Catholic Fundamentalists and Secularist Hollywood elites band together to place hidden codes in Jack Chick tracts to bring the Catholic Church down. 😛

James,

How did you get access to my book manuscripts? 😉

Shortly before I learned more of the faith and became Catholic, I read that book (and others) by the author.

Nowandays, not only do I accuse Mr. Brown’s books of gross inaccuracies purported as fact (so much so that a popular literary trope wiki has a special category just for him), I and others also accuse him of Second Degree Murder of the English language, as a popular literary blog recalls his books (mind the mild profanity in some entries).

I’ve been working for some time since then to write Catholic-flavored fiction that puts the Church (and faith in general) in a better light but with far better sourcing and just a little Jewish folklore. If I can find the audience, I may not make Dan Brown-sized bags of money, but at least I’ll be able to sleep at night with a clear conscience of what denotes good fiction and just plain poorly written stuff.

Need proof reading?

Can I have a signed first edition? 👋
Need proof reading?
Wow! You’ve both given me a great idea to help things along.

Once I’ve gone back through some earlier source material and begun my rewrites, I may ask for some “focus testing” to read, enjoy, critique and proofread. I don’t want to break forum rules by peddling my wares here, so once I’m up and going, I’ll figure out a way to invite those who care to partake. I’ll likely use Google Docs to share. It won’t be too long. Stay tuned.
