Is there any truth to these in your life? Does how you see your children differ between genders?

I’m not a father so I can’t speak from that perspective, but I was always much more closer to my father than my mother. That being said, I can totally see being attached to my daughters in a different and special way than I would be to my sons. I’ve always wanted all daughters, though, so that shouldn’t surprise anyone that knows me.

I’m not sure. I was a daddy’s girl in the sense that I really love and admire my dad–always have. I never went through a phase of really fighting with my parents. The thing is, I really love and admire my mom, too. I’m a bit of a both-girl.

As for my own daughter, she has an attachment to me but listens much better to her papa. 🙂

With my kids, so far, it has been in stages. When they are infants all of my kids have been mama’s boys/girls. As they grow they go through phases, all of them have pretty much done this. I don’t know anything about 8+ yr olds, though, lol.

I have 2 boys…ages 16 and 14.
I have 2 girls…ages 6 and a 9 month old.

The boys are from my first marriage, and I think that comes into play here…my 14 year old is a mommas boy and I fear he always will be. (like the 30 year old living in the basement type of fear). The 16 year old is more ‘mine’ I guess you’d say.

The girls, I’m happy to report, are about equal…but of course the little one is more attached to my wife.

My daughter absolutely adores her father.
She’ll generally reach for him when she is looking to cuddle and snuggle up to. When we go to the doctor’s and she gets a shot…she calms down faster when dad holds her.
She likes to be held by dad when we are in Church.

She seems to be a big time daddy’s girl and she is one years old. She does cuddle with me the same way when dad’s not around…but I think she just favors daddy.

She is still really young and I’m not sure if she will continue like this or grow out of it.

Hmm, I think I was shaped by both. I did gravitate more toward my mom, I think, but I also thought my Dad was the coolest person ever (he totally was, though :p). I did have all male cousins, though, and I think I became a bit of a tomboy just by trying to fit in with them. I don’t regret it, though. 🙂

When I was really young, less than a year, I was attached to mom. When my parents had another baby, I turned into a daddy’s girl. I think as a teenager and ever since, I have balanced out.

I thought that was true. I tried being a daddy’s girl, but I think my mom got jeleous. Now my dad works like crazy. We hardly see him. I’m trying to be a mama’s girl!🙂

I have always been more attached to my mother than my father. At the same time my son is a major mamma’s boy and always right next to me. I haven’t noticed my daughter gravitating to my husband more than me, nor more to me than to my husband.

My culture has a little bit of a soft spot towards mama’s boys and daddy’s girls. 🙂

My sons are devoted to us both but they’re more inclined to confide in me.
My youngest said to me kindly in his early twenties" Mum, I love you to bits, but I’m closer to Dad now." I didn’t mind at all, he’s a caring, straightforward guy. They shared interests. I think he was ‘taking out insurance’ in case I was hurt by the activities he shared with his Dad. I was in fact pleased. My sons continue to be close. I’m always careful to say to their wives when my sons are being especially solicitous towards me, “My boy, your man.” I didn’t have daughters so I don’t know the rest of the story…!
