Dad's having surgery today

Hello everyone 🙂

About ten months ago I asked for prayers for my dad, who was having one of his knees replaced. So many wonderful people responded; Mom, Dad and I were so touched!

It’s now time to replace the other knee. The surgery is scheduled for later today. If you could please pray that all goes well during the procedure itself and that the recovery process will be free of complications, my family and I would be ever so grateful.

I will pray. I have been through major surgery myself and I am also a dad.

The replacement went well, just as it did last time. Surgery lasted 3½ hours. Three and a half hours after he left the operating room, Dad was already taking a few steps forwards and backwards under the supervision of his physical therapist. Yesterday he walked 100 steps in the morning and the same amount again in the afternoon. In general, he’s in good spirits. So far, so good!

Dad’s still on self-administered morphine but may come off it today. I’m a little concerned about that because despite being able to have morphine whenever he wants he can still feel some pain, so I’m not sure what he’ll be like once the morphine is gone. At least he isn’t totally exhausted this time like he was in the days immediately following the first knee replacement.
