Can anyone direct me to a site that can help me with creating little things for my kids to begin their days focusing on God? I see MANY Protestant sites, but can’t locate any that affirm Catholic doctrines. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

When my kids were very young, we just said a few prayers together every morning. Got them to memorize the Guardian Angel prayer and similar that way.

When they were in upper elementary school, I would read from proverbs every morning along with prayers.

For the past 5 years or so we’ve done morning prayer from Magnificat magazine, which is a facsimile of LOTH.

Family prayers don’t have to be too complicated. I encourage you to separate prayer/devotions from religious education (CCD) type activities.

We have been praying with our children for many years before they leave for school. My husband leads it and we always say the Daily Offering together. It didn’t take long for them to memorize it. Also, my husband chooses random prayers or reflections from prayer books and holy cards that we have accumulated. We also include petitions for special intentions during this time. We keep it to about 5 minutes. This is a beneficial, brief time together before everyone departs for the day.

We use Living Faith Kids, which is a pocket-sized publication for daily devotion for kids. It is published 4x/year (each issue covers 3 months) and is only $13 for the year. Each day has a brief reading, a reflection for kids, and a short prayer at the end. We use it to begin each day of our homeschool.

Highly recommended.
